Quade telling it how it is

JOC (James O'Connor) got smashed and missed a major sponsor event. Bloody poor and he was rightly punished. He never said he wouldn't wear the Wallaby jersey even if he was asked, or any of the other foolish things Cooper said. This is a weak comparison. My take on this situation is pretty much in line with...

Agreed, fp, but White was looking great before the injury.

McCabe has fracture in neck - at least 3 months out

Poor bastard. That doesn't sound like fun. Hope he rests up and gets healthy soon.

"Gosper gives in to Twitter" - yams Kiwi cakehole

Hawko, I completely agree. It was interesting on the Podslam that the SANZAR boss pointed out that some of their problems with consistency result from IRB limitations on what SANZAR can and cannot do in judiciary process and structure. It would be really good to see the IRB reform the system.

If Robbie goes who should replace him as Wallabies coach?

In principle there's nothing with a foreign coach. Personally, I don't give a toss. But I do sincerely believe that in this particular instance -- post-Robbie -- we have to have an Australian coach. It's not necessarily that Robbie has been bad (although I'm not a fan), but that there is a...

The persistence with Phipps is bewildering. It's like Deans believes the gambler's fallacy. I thought Moore showed more than enough to start to. Otherwise it's not too bad, given that Poey is injured and Deans was never gonna put Gill and Hooper in the same backrow at Twickers.

GAGR Vote - Should Deans go after the EOYT?

I remember hearing about the Johns brothers using their afternoons in Newcastle when they were growing up to kick bombs into garbage cans from all over the local park. If you watch sports documentaries, they invariably include lines like "he had keys to the local gym and would be there at 6am...

I agree that if you lose two you don't deserve to be there. But that's exactly my point. We want to be in a situation where we play the least number of difficult games early, minimising injuries and encouraging a build towards peak performance. It's expected that the tops will be very close and...

This idea that it doesn't matter as long as we're in the top 8 doesn't make a lot of sense. Let's say we're put in a pool with the Kiwis. Let's also assume that they remain a better side, such that a victory would be an upset. At that point, we cannot lose another game. I know this would be true...

We did. But he's not the Messiah, he's just a bit better than the other guy.

GAGR Vote - Should Deans go after the EOYT?

Yes, but he won't. Even a 2-2 record will see him through, says I.

Upending players isn't hard, it's dumb. He was bloody lucky not to put us a man down. Maybe he did go into his shell afterward, but he was also bloody lazy for a bloke who'd been sitting on the pine all game. He did his usual loitering on the wrong side of the ruck and had very little impact. He...

Both players are injured, rendering any contract situation irrelevant to whether they play or not.

Australia v. France 10 Nov 2012 Stade de France, Paris

McCabe is definitely of international standard, but he needs to fit into the right kind of team, not be one of the first backs picked. He's not good enough for that. The back line that started today is lacking in ball skills. Beale and Tapaui are the only two who can reliably and effectively put...

Totally agree about Dennis. But it was the lineouts that had me worried. After thinking about it more, I've changed me team above.

This would be a good option too. I almost swapped him and Dennis.

I like a lot of your thinking, RR. I don't think England at Twickers is the place to experiment with Pocock/Hooper at 6/7. McCabe tries his guts out, but the balance of the team just doesn't quite work with him at 12. We don't have the structure, skill or sustained disciplines for McCabe to make...
