Anyone got their membership card yet? Seems like it could be tricky getting into the trial match next week without that little guy...

Absolutely. If we could move them to the same height at the halfway line, though...

What's the bloody point if you don't get to sit out of the rain on the 50m line?

    Waratahs 2013

TOCC already said it, but this is pretty hyperbolic. I'm certainly not a fan of the way the Tahs have been run, but this one has the lot: accusations of incompetence, devaluing the jersey, expectations of glory, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, on a sesame seed bun. Seriously though, professional...

Just a glimpse, but that bloke really is a hell of an athlete.

Whether Folau stays with the Waratahs probably doesn't matter much. As Lee pointed out, players come and go, especially imports from other codes. What matters is the value that can be extracted from them. I'm not sure who "all of the failed overseas imports" are exactly, but I think the Waratahs...

I think the plan with Folau is to get a few a more of those.

It'd be nice if they did. We've got a group of about 6, give or take, and we can't get better seats without becoming life members -- and having the timing of that work for 6 people is tricky.

DD would be a good captain, I reckon. He's an 80 minute player, tough, and hard-working. Makes more sense than Robbo, who is usually off for the last 20 or 30.

    Barnes off to Japan

Me too. The proof will be on the field, of course, but I like his long view, and his emphasis on culture and environment. While I'm sure he'd like Barnes and Timani to stay, he's also talking to players who might be thinking about making a move to NSW. Good stuff.

    Barnes off to Japan

With his head injuries, Barnes may not have a long career. Earning a few bucks in Japan is probably a smart move.

Or he thinks attrition in the front row is likely to be high and thinks the trials are the best opportunity to essay a bunch of possible replacements.

And it's essential to get one that is close, or at least perfectly suited to playing style such as Morne at the Bulls, to be a consistent contender in Super Rugby. That's the major reason I hope we see Foley get a decent run there to see if he can develop. World-class might be a stretch, but he could...

I'd imagine that the captain will be a forward and that Barnes will be VC.

It strikes me that Cheika thinks strategically. In my view, developing Foley at 10 (or seeing if he can develop, at any rate) should be a priority. The Tahs desperately need a long-term solution at 10, and I don't think it's Berrick, unfortunately. He just doesn't play with the necessary...

    Waratahs 2013

Kingston is a great prospect for the future, but I'd imagine that Cheika seems him as a replacement player at present who will hopefully develop and take over at wing or 13, depending on how things go. There is no need to rush is development when the Tahs have excellent stocks in outside backs...

I'm not sure why they'd send them out separately, but they haven't come yet. Perhaps it has something to do with encoding entry for the Lions tour game or something? Who knows? Presumably they'll arrive in the next couple of weeks.

    Lions Tour 2013

I agree that members are getting screwed in the pre-sales. We're looking at behind the try-line as best available for Platinum. WTF, right? But why would anyone expect this to work any other way? The tests will sell-out and probably do so pretty fast. Casual fans aren't going to be thinking...

IRB PLAYER OF THE YEAR - 2012

There should be a matches played threshold, probably as a proportion of a team's games. Something like 80% sounds write to me.

    Wallabies 2012

The difference is that baseball lends itself to modelling. First, the game itself is very simple in structure with discrete elements that can be analysed independently. Second, the baseball season is 162 games long and each player appears multiple times at bat (or on the mound) in each game...
