Talk of Betham playing for the Wallabies is far too premature. But he's only 24, very athletic and just had a huge ITM season. He was dangerous last night and perhaps the biggest positive to take away from the game. Probably cemented a wing spot for the Waratahs.

Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby-R5 2013

I was there. While it sucked badly to lose yet again to the Cheetahs at home, I thought there were enterprising passages which showed what this team could become. But the errors made were often catastrophic -- no sweeper on the kick that led to the first-minute try, for instance. Frustrating to...

I'm not sure if you're aware, but you have something of a reputation for wearing Fainga'a-coloured glasses. I figured Paddy Ryan might get less derisive treatment if we tacked another surname on. ;)

Interesting. Most Tahs fans on this board seem to want consistent improvement and signs of possible future success. But if straw men make you feel better, go nuts. ;)

I'd keep Ulugia. A lot of the rest are gone anyway and all have a lot to prove.

We could call him "Paddy Fainga'a" if you want to do any hyperbole experiments?

So true, even intuiting all the failed predictive text... I guess... Meh. We've already penciled in you blokes as an "at least it can't get this bad" win. Happy to eat it if I'm proven wrong.

So someone says a bloke is playing well for the Waratahs and your response is "A Waratah who doesn't stink the place up for a couple of weeks and he 'deserves' a place?" Thank Christ no one had said anything bad about Anthony Fainga'a this week. The hyperbole machine light explode! ;)

Whatever this says, I disagree with it.

Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby-R5 2013

Well, as awful as it was to lose at home to the Cheetahs yet again, the truly frustrating thing was to watch the Waratahs put it all together for certain passages and then utterly fall apart for others. At times (mostly Paddy Ryan or Peter Betham times), the Tahs looked like putting it all...

"Crowd" isn't really an accurate word. I'd go with "collection of scattered folk vaguely aware of their impending humiliation".

Matt Lucas is looking pretty good right now and he's a lot less far away.

Couple more games like that and it might just happen.

It seems like Cheika is trying to shake things up, get the players hungry, etc. Maybe he knew that Mitchell would respond the right way. If he wasn't captain, I reckon Dennis would be resting this week too.

Kinda goes to my point. Might be the perfect option, but we don't know because he hasn't played test rugby yet.

Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby-R5 2013

Pfft. That's nothing -- plenty of teams don't maximise their talent. We're the Super Rugby champions of failing to meet expectations.

Yeah, I'd love to see some cross-field kicks to Folau when within striking distance of the try line. It's kind of amazing that they haven't tried this yet given it was basically those highlight reels that got him millions from the AFL.

If we take the Reds coaches' comments at face value and assume they don't also privately have defensive reasons for playing him at fullback (which is at least possible, since what coach would say "Yeah, we play Quade at 15 because his defense is farkin' rubbish?"), his playing there means there...

It's a shame we don't have a Dan Carter. Seriously though, it's unfortunate that there are big trade-offs with all our 10s. It makes selections even more combination dependent since these need to address weaknesses as well as complementing strengths.

Will try to make it. Depends on work, etc.
