This has to be photoshopped. I refuse to believe that any passenger on that aircraft could spell 'Iowa'.

Super Rugby AU Round 6 - Waratahs vs Reds @ SCG, Saturday 8 August 2020

Don't think anyone outside of the Tahs' dressing shed saw that coming. As much as it stings, great to see that any team can get up over any other team.

2020 Super Rugby AU Round 4 Waratahs vs Melbourne Rebels

I could hear a deep rumble from the direction of Moore Park tonight. Has Phil released the floodgates?

Could have asked the same question about us and the 2003 RWC. Some people have long memories

Oh, and I'm 100% guilty of contributing to this majestic data set. Something something glass houses something stones.

    2020 Super Rugby Round 2 - Waratahs v Force

Feels like NSW are starting to find their feet, and looked a lot more composed in the second stanza after doing their best imitation of a can of worms in the first 40. They pinned WA in their red zone with astute kicking. They were disruptive in defensive lineouts, knowing the Force were...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Actually, someone made the salient point that the SANZAAR agreement didn't allow for a comp excluding any of the partners. If this is indeed correct, we probably shouldn't be killing the golden goose of the Rugby Championship.

Moreover, my understanding was that pre-rona, a large portion of the SANZAAR revenue came from SuperSport. Make no mistake, NZ need an export market. Being bullish and demanding only 2 Australian teams sounds more like posturing rather than a fair dinkum negotiation position. Even though the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I wonder if they're trying to head off a 5th Australian side and most members' preferred position is to set up either a 6/4 or 6/3 plus a pacific side. Bear in mind that Bart Campbell is at play here.

Sweet, so we can ask Clarkie to turf Kearns, yeah?

But it wasn't diluted. There were more home games and more games in local-ish time zones (more local derbies, remember). If anything, the Jaguares were the team really up against it in that regard, playing their 'derby' away fixtures at GMT+2.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The structure can be changed, but I suspect SANZAAR picked a bad time to bloat the competition, especially from Australia's point of view (bear in mind that NZ also has challenges). As I said though, I would have thought the best structural solution would be to simplify the comp (such as...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

To go off on a tangent to what Wamberal was saying, Super Rugby was so good at filling the SFS, Ballymore, and Bruce Stadium. Eight or nine years ago I could only get tickets up in the gods to watch the Reds at Lang Park when I was visiting Brisbane. The advantage union had over loig and...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

So you're saying that the 1991 and 1999 test teams were also-rans? Would be nice if a few people currently acting to further entrench the old boys' mentaility decided to emulate Captain Oates.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Super Rugby helped us win the first professional world cup, and gave us our most successful province. It also meant people like me could go and watch guys like Cullen, Lomu, Matfield, and Carter as well as Gregan, Horan, and Pocock. I just don't get this whole push to involute to a...
