Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 1st April, GIO

I reckon the one that was called as forward, was forward (out of the hands), and others on replay looked flat (travelled forward, as all passes do, unless the passer is static!). So I think Berry et al got those right.

Who knew he was an All-Black fan, although shouldn't have bought the XL size fan-kit.

    Wallabies 2023

True, but I doubt Eddie's template is as one-dimensional as was stated in the previous post. Hanigan, as an example, has certainly bulked up and is showing more effect on attacking and defensive contact, but he'll always be more workhorse than battering-ram. I'd say the other 2 mentioned have...

Not me, it's effective but I would not call it exciting.

I don't disagree with you at all.

I reckon they lump "tackling" the ball player as effectively "intentionally collapsing" it. So, a penalty. But I remain in the camp that mauls are legalised obstruction the way they are set and played these days, and this is contrary to the ethos of rugby as a "contest for possession". The fact...

I don't really get the angst expressed over this issue with marquee players that EVERYONE knows will almost certainly never play club rugby. I mean, if they get a photo of him in Two Blues, or Eastwood or other colours, will it make any difference to game attendance, or indeed anything?

Harrison made about as much sense as Rodha last night, so I would put too much stock in his utterances. Sounded like blood was diverting from his brain to another organ. Almost Kearns-like. Cue Dismal Pillock

Gordon's season so far has been well below his normal play at Super rugby level so sooner or later he would have a better game; and I agree he was pretty good. Agree re Holloway.

Teams in that situation should probably play like they have no advantage, and stick to processes. I thought the repetitive scrum sets seemingly with the aim of drawing YCs maybe took them away from their usual patterns. I was surprised it took so long to go for a maul (which ironically they...

If the Waratahs play like that for the rest of the season they'll take a few scalps. Shame they've probably let any chance of figuring in finals go.

Berry was Berry, same as ever, few odd ones but the Tahs had that game in reach and it was more their own errors that gifted opportunities back to the Brumbies who were good at taking them.

Waratahs are just too loose on the key points. Donaldson's kick is the perfect example. Too many silly basic errors at key times. That was there for the taking. Much better effort though.

Justin Harrison has reached peak fanboi - might need a clean-up in aisle 6.

Yeah, but he was basically acting as a blocker. Smart play by Brumbies to see it and for Slipper to run into the hole it left.

There was one of those in the match last night too.

Yeah, I suspect they'll win it comfortably.

He was not the defender on that man, the hole was because of Foketi being in the wrong place and basically being a blocker for the Brumbies. Poor play from Foketi.

Gotta wonder if the Brumbies might have been better served not trying to run up the YCs with endless scrums and just score a maul try down there earlier.
