I'm liking our defense tonight. Fantastic handoff from Timani to Genia, who probably should've used DHP instead of going long over Foleys head. Exciting counterattack though, which is essential if you're not going to compete at the ruck and rely on impactful defense instead (which I think...

I dont understand having Foley and Hunt on the field as well as Cooper and Hodge on the bench. How many 10, 12 and 15 options do we need? Hodge is out of place one the wing IMO (although, he he's only just come on, he could prove me wrong). I'd rather have one of Hodge / Cooper and another...

Toby Smith getting done by the Italian prop just as Sio was. We were lucky not to be penalised there.

Naivalu down injured. Fuck. He's been a real point of difference this game and I think he'll continue shine in Wallabies colours. He's been replaced by Reece Hodge but he's walked off the field. Hopefully its not too serious as he's been quality tonight.

I'm not sure thats fair. He's dropped the pill twice but thats hardly unique to him in the team. He's committed the line well and set up his outside runners really well on a few occassions, as well as making all required tackles with enthusiasm.

Stephen Moore FFS what was that pass. He looks like a machine that hasn't been oiled in years. Bring on the new generation.

What a fucking try!! That simply should not have been scored. Genia ponderous and put more pressure on his outside runners again by skipping across field. Foley with a fantastic through the legs pass to DHP who takes on the line, commits two defenders, offloads to Hunt who throws a lovely...

Shepherding calls like that piss me off to no extent. The ref blew his whistle after the ball carrier (Sio) had already been tackled and gone to ground, about 0.5m past where the blocker (Arnold) was standing. It literally had no impact on the game.

Lineouts looking more competitive with Hanigan and Arnold with some near steals. Of course near steals are worth diddly squat but it seems to be functioning better as a unit. Edit: spoke too soon. We fucked the last lineout.

Beautiful inside ball from Foley to DHP off the lineout (we've seen that before) after a ~50 m penalty kick from Foley. Pop gun? Not this time. Genia and Foley held back as support runners (almost had another Hooper-Scotland moment there). Through the hands to Folau who goes in the corner...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

Beautiful decision making there from Genia to take the quick tap, through the hands of Foley to Horne who takes the line on, draws the defender and makes it into a foot race between Naivalu and the Italian fullback. Naivalu is too quick and we go in for our first try. Naivalu's already had...

Don't mind the tactic of keeping it in field from that kick from Foley there. Our defense has been well organised and dominant thus far - the kick chase was strong and we presented a really nice wall. Forced a knock on. Let's hope we can hold onto it.

Because you'd rather be right about watching the team you "support" burn than be wrong and see the team you "support" be successful.

British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand (2017)

No no no no. I have seen far too much of the All Blacks and Kiwi teams winning in my lifetime. I'm supporting the Lions for two reasons: + The continued dominance of the All Blacks is shit house for World Rugby, and more pertinently, Australian rugby. + I want to observe the desperate...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but I think Dempsey has a lot more upside that Korczyk and, whilst he's had a limited season due to injury, he did have a great season last year (the same can't be said about Korczyck - maybe he'll get picked next year?). From my reading, that seems to be...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

Just quickly - I don't think anyone that has watched Dempsey play through highschool, club footy at Gordon, at NRC level or at Super Rugby level would agree with you. In essence, no one that has actually watched him play would agree with you. He's a pretty fantastic lineout exponent with the...

I'm 100% behind this. I can't wait to see what he cooks up in response to the Haka. "The Gunston Macarena".
  18. Micheal

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

That's a slippery slope / false equivalence fallacy. I'm not saying Australia has one 5/8 worthy to be starting in all future tests. I'm saying that in the immediate future Foley is the only flyhalf thats shown the required form to be starting, most particularly in reference to the Italy...

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

To be fair, Quade doesn't have Nonu's history of excelling at test level. With 60+ caps we've seen this time-in-time-out.
  20. Micheal

    Australia v Italy, Suncorp Stadium, 24th June 2017 @ 3:00pm

This is mind boggling. Quades been demonstrably worse than Foley all Super rugby season and in the test season prior to that. He has a good 20min off the bench and all of a sudden he's hit form and is a deserved starter? Foley may not be setting the house on fire but the alternative isn't...
