    Melbourne Rebels 2024

The only answer for Australian Rugby is to live within it's means. That means let all the best players earn money overseas and pick the Wallabies from overseas players just like the Socceroos do. Drop the salary cap to $2 million per club and accept where that leaves the domestic game. Yes, the...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I am not sure he is yappy enough and just looking at him doesn't make me want to punch someone so he doesn't have all the basic requirements of a #9.

Yes, game attendance at AAMI is woeful but it is no better in Canberra. The attendances to their games are also awful but they have no potential to increase where as Melbourne does. The Brumbies got 8000 last year to a quarter final so even being successful could not increase their crowds. The...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

If there was to be a merger between the Brumbies and the Rebels then the majority of games would have to be played down in Melbourne and not in Canberra. Melbourne is the most important market in Australia for RA. Sydney and Queensland already have a significant Rugby presence so growth...

    Aussie Player Exodus

A move for JP and maybe a couple more talented backs would be an obvious move by the NRL. It says you paid an absolute fortune for a young kid who hasn't really proven anything yet and we can just nip in and take anyone we like and you can't do anything about it. Know your place little brother...

I also watch most of the Quins games, in fact I was at the Quins v Sale game in December oh what we wouldn't give for crowds like that at Super rugby. Anyway I digress, Louis Lynagh is a good winger with strong attacking instincts and a touch of X factor even if he lacks absolute top line speed...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

There are multiple membership levels you can get at the Rebels. I go with a group of people with various financial capabilities so we have the blue membership which is truly dirt cheap. So given that I don't begrudge the club trying to recover some of the costs by charging $10 for delivery.

    Wallabies 2024

I am just surprised that Wilkin does not seem to be in consideration for seven. He is probably the most classical 7 we have, very strong over the ball and a real work horse. I would love to see him given a chance for the Wallabies. I think Hooper, Wilkin and Valetini would make a really well...

    Wallabies 2024

We don't have the talent in the squad to carry guys that are card risks. 15 on 15 we are struggling put a Swain and a Swinton in the 15 and the odds of being a player down is too great. The big issue is that both have shown that the opposition can get into their heads and at International level...

    Wallabies 2024

I agree that that is a problem but given the alternative appears to be rugby circling the drain as it is doing at the moment I think it is something we may just have to accept.

    Wallabies 2024

I wasn't trying to relegate rugby to non-professional more considering semi-professional. I can't see how the model you are suggesting will change the financial stakes in Australian Rugby at all. It is not going to increase the numbers watching the game in fact by cutting down two teams...

    Wallabies 2024

My 2 cents for what it is worth. Rugby in Australia cannot fund itself. The interest is simply not there because it is a third string game in a country with a smallish population. Rugby league has first pick of the majority of talent because of the support and money it can offer the elite...

    Wallabies 2024

I think you are being kind saying the Wallabies were a tier 1 side when he took over. We were well ensconced with the Tier 2s at the end of Rennie's reign. Eddie has just accelerated the decline.

    Wallabies 2024

Yes, test rugby is faster and tougher than Super rugby against Tier one nations. That is simply not true when playing against the Georgia's of this world and yet he still played deep. Him playing deep is almost certainly an aspect of the game plan and not how he wants to play or plays best. I...

    Wallabies 2024

I go to all the Rebels games and one of the reasons Gordon looked so good is that he plays up in the line and probes the defense. For the Wallabies he is always sitting deep and shoveling to a one off runner. He has a tendency to want to run the ball and look for holes to either go through...

    Wallabies 2024

I am not sure that is true. You have a choice in rugby you select a game plan to best suit your players or select your players to best suit your game plan. This is doubly so in the halves. Unfortunately, Eddie picked his players but then tried to make them play a game plan that did not suit...

    RWC Pool C - Australia v Wales - 5AM 25 Sep AEST

I think it is the game plan. Gordon played deep against Georgia as well particularly once Tate went off and our forwards controlled that game.

    RWC Pool C - Australia v Wales - 5AM 25 Sep AEST

I personally would rather see Gordon at 10 but not with Eddie's game plan. If you want your 10 playing deep then it is pointless having a 10 who is best at playing flat and probing the lines with both his running and his passing. If you want a deep lying 10, who is simply a kicker and...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I completely agree with this approach. If you increase the squad sizes you can also compress the time between group games as rotation is so much easier. You don't want the tournament to run any longer than the current 8 weeks. If you went with 6 groups of 4 you either have to rank the...
