Can Cheika ball work for the Wallabies?

McQueen was the master of turning outcasts into a great team. I would argue he had the motivation skills of Cheika, the analytical approach of McKenzie and the expectation of excellence of Deans... Again, my problem with this thread is that we're going over a moot point... the game plan only...

I think it is about making clubs seem complicit.

Can Cheika ball work for the Wallabies?

I think the toughest thing about whatever game plan the Wallabies want to play - you need the some world class players to be able to implement it. The latest international season has plumbed the depths of Australia's talent pool in a few positions (notably the back row, and hooker), and shown...

Injured players are grossly underinsured, but the issue isn't around insurance - insurance coverage remains the same, except it needs to be paid on a per player basis. This will mean a one team club in a regional comp who may have had 40 players registered because of work commitments, general...

Unfortunately I don't see a resolution to issue. Tapping community rugby players on the shoulder and asking for $98 for a senior or $67.50 for a junior player to "participate" in the game is the most disgraceful thing I've ever seen in sports administration. The boards of the ARU and the state...

Our club (regional QLD) currently budgets around $87 per senior player (U19, 3rd, 2nd, 1st Grade and Womens) (based on fixed $ per team levy) for the insurance paid to Gow Gates. We need to ensure we get enough players to cover that fee and collect the fee from the players. We will no longer...

    The Pulverisation of Australian Rugby

For comparison sake, in 2013 it cost my club $1960 to insure a senior team. In 2014 it was $1790, plus a compulsory fee of $200 per team (or $1990 total). That cost for 23 registered players in 2015 will be $2484 ($1725 for insurance - $75 per player, and $759 for National Participant...

It has, but it was administered by clubs.

Good players require pathways to develop their skills. Clubs below Shute Shield or Premier Rugby can only take players so far. Better competition is what is required. Players get better by playing with, and against, the best. Supporting those tiers of competition is important, as is supporting...

    The Pulverisation of Australian Rugby

As someone who's run a club for the past 7 years, played for the last 20, with two sons now playing, I'm aghast at the changes that have been introduced. There's an interesting booklet developed that introduces the new National Participation Game Plan. I thought I recognised the format and it...

Also agree with you on the current ads. Hooper getting his hair cut? Geez. Its my biggest current gripe with the ARU, how the history, legacy and resources are so poorly utilised in promoting the sport. 91 and 99RWC, 03 RWC Final, dominance of the Aus team through the late 90's early 00's, Grand...

Absolutely loved the Wilkinson ad. To see how much the game means to the community was fantastic.

Any news on the fate of the $200 per team levy and the management of player insurances for 2015.

    Wallaby Captaincy

Certainly Eales didn't inherit a great team - Wallabies circa 1996 were a mess under Greg Smith. I don't recall when McCaw came to the captaincy, but he too was with an AB's side that wasn't consistently winning against England or Wallabies in the early 2000's.
