Seems to be a lot of complaining but no solutions being offered. Judging by Rugby Link, Clubs need about 50-60 Premier squad level players to effectively participate in the Men's Open Division of QPR (Premier and Premier Reserve). Logan usually fronted with less than 30 players across 1st...

Given what we saw in 2017, I don't believe there was any other realistic option.

A little bit disingenuous there TOCC trying to compare the Wests clubhouse to just the Viking grandstand. The Vikings ground also has a superb clubhouse overlooking the ground, in addition to the grandstand on the opposite of the ground. No-one has said the Wests clubhouse is not a great...

The main ground is top class (hosts all the ACT finals series), was professionally resurfaced when the club bought the ground from the Council, is well cambered for draining and has a covered grandstand that is far superior to any field in Brisbane cub rugby - see photo at...

Have you been to the Tuggeranong Vikings grounds and grandstand, and/or any of their four Clubhouses

It would be great if we could do the same with Premier Rugby that Shute Shield has done. I agree that free to air is a key component. See Fitzsimon's article...

A game where GPS lost it rather than UQ winning it. Too much turnover ball, much of it when not under pressure. That said, UQ performed on the day when GPS did not so deserved winners.

Go to the Reds Page, open the Premier Rugby portal, then Fixtures and Results, then open any of the "Fixtures" and you will see a header bar on that page that includes "Ladders" open that, then open "Club Championships" and you will see the table.

GPS rested a large number of Prem starters today, presumably because the game was inconsequential in terms of ladder positioning for the finals, and almost came unstuck. Easts nearly toppled them in the second half.

The Competition Rules are fairly specific about eligibility, and if a player is not an ARU/QRU contracted player, or played six matches (in the case of Premier grade) then he is not eligible. The management committee is limited to only consider injuries or forfeits when looking at dispensation...

UQ and GPS both resting quite a few players this weekend. Will be a good test of depth in both squads.

My information is that the Referee was aware of the advantage and was about to walk over to signal it on the mark when the GPS winger got in his way. I understand that the GPS 11 was actually questioning the decision on the knock-on versus the ball being placed on the line and being awarded a...

Interesting thought Hammertime. You could partner this thinking with the emerging NZ strategy for bringing on a stronger bench (eg 4 or 5 All Blacks) than your starters, in order to finish a game so strongly that the opposition can't match it.

He's lost speed, agility and game awareness since his GT days then, and his ability over the ball is reasonable but only on the odd occasion that the ruck occurs next to him. His other stats for 2017 are less than impressive - missing 25% of his tackles and averaging about 1m for each of his 23...

Neither Moore nor Ready are mobile enough for my liking. The best teams have hookers that are more akin to flankers than props. NZ teams are leading the way in this regard, which is part of why they are the best.

Yes, but only if they are qualified 'Assistant Referees' appointed to the game and would need to be miked up to be able to advise the referee in a timely manner. In QPR, only Premier grade has appointed 'Assistant Referees' who are miked up, although there has been a push to expand this to some...

The difficulty lies in the application of the relevant Laws given it is a subjective assessment made in a split second by the referee. In Rugby Union, if the pass is released in a backward motion from the hands of the passer, but floats forward given the momentum of the ball continues to move...

Interestingly the front row combination that played contested scrums when the Brothers front rower was carded then became the same front row combination when they went uncontested. Not sure how a 'qualified' front row that wasn't a safety issue became an 'unqualified' front row that was a...

So what happens from a competition perspective? Does Brothers get penalised in some way (eg loss of a competition point(s)) or does it just go down as a major refereeing cock-up with no further action other than Horton being dropped (I presume)

Interesting on the Livestream to see Brothers go to uncontested scrums in Prems on the weekend, claiming they were out of front rowers. You would think in Prems that this should never happen given you have to have three front rowers on the bench, although the Brothers scrum was still getting...
