Finally someone asking the tough questions

    Ballymore Redevelopment

In the next decade I feel there will be more and more need for Brisbane to have a smaller rectangular field to use. NRL is a good chance expand to 3 teams in Brisbane before the Olympics (unless NZ gets the team), and I can't see how long term that Suncorp is able to support 3 teams and Super...

    Ballymore Redevelopment

You'd hope some of these challenges could be solved in stage 2

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

You're ability to be so completely blind to reality is truly astounding. Warne wasn't capable of this type of spin.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

    How is this relevant?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Not even close with this one

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Why? To me the claim fairly simple logic of if the Rebels are honest about their financial situation, RA wouldn't grant them a licence and therefore not the money on them. No idea about the actual figure but the logic is the same whether its $35m or a dollar.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

They're basically saying that if the Rebs we're honest about their financial state they would've culled them earlier and not wasted the $35M. It's like they are applying the same logic the MRRU directors are with their - "You told us you had cash coming in so we spent it before we had it"...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

You're pushing this into areas well beyond your initial argument now.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

It's likely less unprofitable than any other competition structure No, it was just funded by Fox, COVID happened and Fox stopped funding it, then RA left Fox - not everything is a conspiracy. Any reform needs the almost complete buy in of all member unions so even if they took his deal, there...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

We're coming around to my central point, in that the opportunity was there (and I believe still there) but not seized. The Rebels weren't successful in giving them a reason to support them - rather than the people Melbourne being incapable of it.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Has anyone who holds this belief ever interrogated it themselves? The game isn't healthy, but specifically - in what way does the 'the code have it's head in the sand' over these issues that are seemingly faced and unresolved by every national union around the world, and that have been for the...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

    Yes, exactly.
  14. JRugby2

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Exactly my point. People can support teams across multiple sports. Melbourne is no more saturated with different winter sports than Sydney or Brisbane is - especially relative to their population size and general affinity for sport in general, and so it's not really apples and oranges at all...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

The death of the Rebels has wide reaching negative consequences. Our games best interest was for us to have the Rebels successful in the Melbourne market - your teams administrators are the reason we don't have that.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

How many AFL fans do you know in Melbourne that actively support more than one AFL team, or NRL fans in Sydney?

    Mate... c'mon, really?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

It's not blind - it's based on the reporting and information that we currently have access too, and making my own assessment of it. I will happily change my position if new information comes to light.
  19. JRugby2

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

This is irrelevant - you're proving that Melbournians love AFL, not that they are incapable of supporting a second or third team at the same time in another sport, just like we see in Brisbane and Sydney. The rebels did a shit job, but the data says that having a professional footprint in...
