Just to let you guys know that the timber I'm pursuing on advise from the trophy makers (so not guaranteed, just what would be nice) is Australian blackwood. Its a part of the wattle family and when quarter cut seems to have a very nice figure to it.

To be fair, Australian rugby has been facing these same problems for years from the sounds of it, its just now we're getting over our depth issues and poaching issues, SA Rugby sounds like its just gotten to a point now with the new super rugby teams etc that it has to face the same things.
