Interestingly, I think Bond can be a sleeping giant, but only when they get their full act into gear. Lots of good footballers on the coast, TSS to draw from and a fair next tier competition

    Reds 2018

As mentioned earlier, Carozza is a good man for the job. He understands Reds rugby and has done for some time. He was in charge of development when I was at school and dealt with a number of my mates. They all liked him as a mentor and a bloke

Is Hanson on the outer with the Rebs? It may be possible to bring him home. His oldest brother was just below me at school. Great family and he is a solid player

Yes, I will admit that nothing happening at the moment that has me engaging the front office to buy seats for the coming season. My two kids are taking a lot of my time now anyway

    The Wallabies Thread

Interesting you say this DB, I have followed him since his Reds days and could not quite understand why he didn't get a better go. He seemed to perform well when given the opportunity and I heard he killed it in SS. Was it politics?

Force Vs Waratahs, Round 17 - Saturday 15th July, NIB Stadium

Well done Force, fantastic effort. I agree with Horan (for once), there are some real myths in the Tahs team. Hanigan made no impression, Gordon only goes well in NRC, not up to Super, doesn't cover, for example Lance's try. But even for a qld'er, I feel for Foley and Hooper

As a bit of a fan of the older Lucas boys, out of interest, how did the younger Lucas go against Levi, the big Souths centre. Levi has been travelling well lately. Also how did Caleb Timu go?

    Reds 2018

I see earlier the mention of Hamish Stewart and Jake Strachan as being back up tens. Let's not fall into the trap of putting too much pressure on these guys. I haven't seen Stachan play but Stewart is not long out of school, he played well in the U/20 games I watched, but the opposition was...

    Reds 2017

I agree withe posters on here that while they should be able to take in the highlights of the tour (this is Rugby after all), they should be aware of the difficult environment they have found themselves in (of their own doing). Management should have whispered in their ear

    Reds 2017

RugbyReg said "I assume that's for Sunnybank? Did he come on for Jake Strachan? He is someone I'm very keen to see develop. Good playmaker and big boot." Yes it was Reg, I'm not 100% on this but I think he started at 12, and finished the game at 10 when Strachan went off. Scrubber reckons he...

    Reds 2017

That is an interesting one. Ben was two years behind me at school and I was a big fan of his efforts for the Reds. Matt has copped a pretty rough deal at the Tahs but as you say, would be a better option at the Reds. I didn't know it at the time but Isaac played Prems against my team on the...

The forward battle should be good but the Reds will prevail in the backs. Reds by 18

    Waratahs 2018

Watch the lines they run. Phipps gets there because he is quicker than most. His only issue is that his pass gets ragged, not necessarily all the time but when he tires (from the ground he covers) or under duress

Conrad Quick is a good example indeed. I hope that after what he has displayed since leaving school here on the Coast that he is not "spotted" in NZ and snapped up

    Waratahs 2018

The reason why Gordon is not always there is that he runs a line so that he can be there or thereabouts to back up on the inside if there was a linebreak. This is his strength (try scorer). However Phipps and Lucas run the line in case of dropped ball, they get to breakdown quicker (Phipps is...

Reds vs Waratahs - 29th April RD 10

Don't know whether you're watching the same games as I do Cyclopath. I'd have Lucas back behind my beloved Reds in a blink. He has the best passing game of all them, followed by Powell. Jake has the best running game, honed in the NRC. Sadly this is not NRC, much tighter and more pressure

    Singapore 7s 15 & 16 April 2017

Australia being able top back-up their form from Hong Kong gives me a real optimistic outlook. With a fairly critical injury toll (Jenkins, Chucky and Lucas) they were able to show some real ticker and skill. Augers well for the future

    2017 Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

I haven't seen much of the 20's, but it is good to hear that there is some talent coming through good enough to be in a position to bench (at least) for the Reds
