ARU fee structure change for 2015

I'd like to know why Queensland Junior Rugby costs are so high and to a lesser extent NSW. ACT clubs had their first major registration at the Brumbies meet the players day. Prices ranged from $130 to $180 for a player between clubs. Given that the ACT has a hefty state levy (as does QLD) and...

ARU fee structure change for 2015

My biggest issue is that the clubs are left to sell unexplained fees to parents for their kids to play rugby. The ARU dumps the fee on an individual basis, but we clean up the mess and cop the flack. I am so not looking forward to our first rego day next month as has been explained here...

ARU fee structure change for 2015

I agree totally except without grass roots participation super rugby and test crowd figures will continue to fall and therefore impact the ARU.

ARU fee structure change for 2015

Certainly was some negative reactions, but that wasn't enough to get the clubs and schools to react. Certainly last year for our club player costs (cost to put a kid on the field) went up 38% and this year it will be even higher. It's hard for families to understand why we have almost doubled...

ARU fee structure change for 2015

Well as the ACTJRU introduced individual rather than per team competition fees (at a substantially higher end cost) last year I don't see them digging in like the SJRU.

    ACTJRU U18 Div 1 & ACT Schools XV 2015

I'd agree that Vikings will have a very strong 18's side this year with the players advancing from their 16's last season. Royals will need to recruit as they had no under 16 side last year, but have a 2015 Samoan tour that may help bolster numbers. Realistically I can't see anyone coming...

    John I Dent Cup 2014

Royals Rugby Union Football Club is now taking applications for the first grade coaching position (paid part time role) in the ACT Premier Division competition for the 2015 season. The Club currently runs senior men's grades from 1st to 4th and a Colts (Under 20s) teams and also has a Women's...

Their 16's got themselves in strife on Saturday as well. Good to see Royals and Vikings take the 15 and 16 Div 1 titles respectively, been a while since club sides have taken both those age groups.

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

All I can say about the Royals vs SEC game is I wouldn't read too much into the score. Royals finished the game with 12 players through injury. A bridge too far with their squad down to 16 fit players albeit out of position to start the game. I think Eddies will beat Grammar this weekend, but...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

From what I saw the usual suspects. Alex Verass had another blinder as did the usual suspects (Moala Ritchie etc). Great open play, but Royals have a pack which is pretty dominant. Wests looked good in stages, but they aren't the side they were a few years ago when they gave the 18's comp a...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

For and against just means a team may have got to wallop Vikings (who dropped down to Div 2) or another wrongly graded club or school by a 100 points or so. Depth issues with three sides to choose from. I'm sorry, but this irks me. I would say however even Marist and SEC and trying to fill 3...

I totally agree, and on your last point there are now far more kids at both Marist and Grammar choosing another winter sport over rugby.

    John I Dent Cup 2014

For the footy or Viking Park disappearing into the abyss should the unthinkable happen (only kidding). I'm looking forward to Colts and 1st's as I can see them being cracking games and honestly Queanbeyan are the only side in those two grades who would trouble Vikings in my opinion.

I also think the ARU are happy to see the big GPS schools in NSW and QLD do their development for them at no true cost. The NSWRU were pretty confident they didn't need to pay the $220 per team levy and therefore lose development officers. Who needs a development officer when you just send a...

And hopefully at least one of them is 1st grade!

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

Maybe, but I think you'd have to look back a lot further to when we had at least 8 teams who were able to compete. The schools are no longer Rugby focused and clubs are really struggling. Vikings for example as the largest junior club couldn't put together a Div 1 side this season. Then you...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

Definitely a poor year for Marist. Eddies by the length of the straight this year was my prediction. Grammar were ordinary in the 16's last year, but good on them for at least not making it a one horse race and they only lost 10-7 to Eddies earlier in the season so maybe there is a chance the...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

Agree schools should never forfeit, but unfortunately they now have more kids playing other sports than rugby. Well you currently have a 1st Division 18's comp with only 6 sides in it. If you look at the 16's Division 1 comp there's only 5 teams in it. The only other 16's Division has 8...

Looks like Daramalan may have packed up for the season early? Result shows them forfeiting at home to Eddies! I find it incredible that 1st XV sides from schools do this. Although in Dara's case they only have 2 sides, a 1st div and 3rd div.
