Yup, exactly. I'd be surprised if there are 4 weeks a year without some sort of pressure to be working, often in a face-to-face context.

There are many more aspects to coaching the Wallabies than running training sessions and watching Super Rugby games. Link alluded to this on the podcast. While telecommuting could be fine for some things, I reckon it'd be pretty poor to make $1 million a year from the ARU and spend a few months...

    It's not a part-time job.

Right. It has to be the whole reason.

I don't really like that team, but I'm not sure how much choice Link really had in the backs. Gotta wonder just how terrible Alexander and Simmons have to be to stop getting selected. Presumably, though, Simmons will pack behind Slipper, which might see some more stability at scrum time.

Nah, it's Shag Hansen that has to watch his back. Link is still on his honeymoon.

Since it fits with whatever provincial allegiances one might have? A bit like how an x-factor, electric, risk-taking flyhalf is precisely what's needed for some. Really what you actually need is an ex-7s, line-breaking, reluctant kicker at 10.

    Waratahs 2014

IMO, the most impressive aspect of Cheika's coaching so far has been his willingness and ability to see potential in young guys and give them a go. Crawford and Skelton, to name the brightest finds, have big futures with the Waratahs.

I don't think Link plays favourites at all. Cooper and Genia are proof positive of that. I do think he's made some selection errors, most notably in the tight five. Who knows if the scrum (or the pack in general) would have done any better if he'd made different choices, but it couldn't have...

    James O'Connor misses flight

Rubbish. JOC (James O'Connor) is a serial offender and he did something pretty dumb, including (it seems) misleading the ARU over the event. I'm sure that the last thing Link wants to do is stand down his second-best performing back.

    James O'Connor misses flight

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting he should be picked. More that I rate Betham as still raw at Super level.

Makes me glad I never put mine away.

Betham would not have been my first choice either. I actually think he's behind Cam Crawford at the Tahs for exactly the reason you note. Henry Speight cannot become eligible fast enough.

    Waratahs 2014

McKibbin can kick goals. We're thin on that front without him.

    James O'Connor misses flight

It takes guts to turn around team culture. This was the first test of Link's regime and he's done the right thing. Senior players will no doubt be pleased and it sends a very clear message to any other potential loose cannons. Short term, it will hurt not to have JOC (James O'Connor). He's been playing well...

I don't get it. What's the connection with Quade?

    James O'Connor misses flight

Yep. Pretty damning that two of the most respected Wallabies of the last few years would be making these statements.

    Wallaby Locks - The Future

Oh, I've seen the show and got the reference. I still don't want to think about backs being anywhere near Jupiter's cock.

    James O'Connor misses flight

Some interesting developments. Sharpie doesn't have much good to say about JOC (James O'Connor)'s standing within the team. And team rehab captain, James Horwill, is not exactly excited about the whole incident. It's also clear that the ARU is now running a full investigation, including interviews with the...

Last I read he was "doubtful" but who knows what that means in practice.
