Bardon, what about Darren Cave? Why isn't he figuring? Apart from Declan's perversity.

I'd be afraid of Manu too. More so with Twelvetree inside him than Barritt. Twelvetrees, for all his inexperience, even made Barritt look good at 13.

@ plastic paddy Couldn't agree more. Is D'Arcy going to be fit? Keith Earls didn't exactly cover himself in glory in the defensive line.

Wales have some very deep thinking to do. They're still set up for the big boshing backs game but it's not working anymore - and hasn't for almost 12 months - yet they persist. The forwards are slow to the breakdown with poor technique so the ball they get is always slow. Phillips dawdles with...

I wouldn't underestimate Gatland's influence over Howley and Wales, even if officially not involved. Warburton's decline is symptomatic of Wales' decline.

The Torygraph has sugested that Barritt might make way. They have an eerily accurate history of selection tips. As if they have a hot line to the RFU. I'd be surprised if Twelvetrees isn't benched.

@ qwerty Fair call. Exactly what Gatland will do in terms of Warburton is the question. Lucky to be starting in front of Tipuric for Wales.

I'm not sure that Robshaw is a nailed-on starter. I'd have SOB in front of him. SOB isn't a genuine 7 but then Robshaw isn't either. And it depends whether Gatland has fallen out of love with Warburton yet.

Lions captaincy is a fascinating contest. If BOD stays fit, I'd go with him. Outstanding effort against Wales with virtually no rugby under his belt. His magic hands to Zebo aside, he led the defence in that second half. Heaslip was skipper, BOD was leader.

I think both Irish and England back rows were excellent against, relatively speaking, lacklustre oppo. Losing Morgan costs them a massive (in every sense of the word) ball carrier, at least until he either runs out of puff or gets injured. Hask isn't a substitute. Wood, though, is class wherever...

Yep. The Irish back row will be an entirely different proposition. And their defence. It was cracking in the second half against Wales. They won't give England the space to play that Scotland did.

I think the Italians might enjoy a bad-weather slog. It gets pretty brutal here in the North in rugby season and they're used to it.

Indeed. Nigel calls "Use it!" and Gori ignores him. Turnover ball.

The lines and support play are what Brunel has been drumming into them. And the confidence to play that way. I'll be in Rome to see Italy-Ireland. Quite looking forward to it. ;)

I get exactly what you mean. A very different match from two years ago. What I want, though, is the same intensity again. That's the challenge. Brunel has worked very very hard on their confidence, their belief in themselves. Sadly, typically, the win didn't make it to the top of La...

That's right. They have to develop consistency. Gli Azzurri were massively fired up yesterday. Castro nearly took Sergio's head off during the singing of the anthem. And, as well as they played, France were utter rubbish.

Chabal? He wasn't playing. Picamoles is the animal number 8. He played today. Scored their first try.
