According to GPS thread SLC getting a jump on the other schools with a trial against Terrace this weekend. Anyone know of any other AIC schools trialing against a GPS schools? As fare as I am aware the only MCA trials (not including internal trials) are; Saturday 8th August – vs. St...

    AIC Rugby 2020

It would not be possible to seed as the pools cover all age groups anyway. You cannot just seed based on the current 1st XV group as this may be totally different to say the year 9 cohort, and it would just be pure speculation anyway as there has been limited trial games to date. And trials are...

Hey TP, got the AIC info on the make up of the comp but didn't mention the actual pools as you have. Where did you get this info from?

    AIC Rugby 2020

AA Absolutely. Ball carrier turns in the tackle, nearest team mate rips the ball, next 2 in block each side, half back takes ball at waist height and pass to 5/8 or lazy runner. Clean and simple. Did that drill thousands of times at training, all backs and forwards could do it blind folded...

    AIC Rugby 2020

For some entertainment and to keep the boys motivated MCA have been releasing on youtube a classic game each week (2:15 Saturdays). Last weeks one was an absolute corker, 1989 TAS GF of Ash v SLC. The camera work is shoddy at best, but without a doubt the highlight is the very biased...

Update from MCA - As of today there will be NO field training, trial games or camp up to and including the 2nd May. This falls in line with the directive from Rugby Australia and the QRU released yesterday, and our own College directions. Assume this will be the case everywhere. I understand...

Pardon my ignorance, but who is this Ezra that everyone speaks of with such reverence?

    AIC Rugby 2020

Probably varies on the year, but generally the below is accurate. Peters/Eddies - 2 Pats -3 Iona / Villa / Padua - 4 ASH / SLC - 6

Nope, still on a trial though. Didn't seem to be a lot of interest, probably due to the limited numbers permitted to play. Crowd support was no where on the scale of the rugby. This is a rugby thread though, so let's keep it that way.

Thanks Jimmy, good to hear from Padua. Any team with 2 Lomu's in it has to be a worry. Max Johnson is a huuuuge lad, only year 11 too. How many are returning from last years 1sts?

    AIC Rugby 2020

Just to get this thread moving again, came across the below vid put together by a Japie whose enthusiasm for schoolboy rugby makes GO seem like a casual observer with a passing interest in the subject. Will of course be very controversial to some, especially the No.19 pick, but like he says...

Which boys (and positions) are returning? Which year 10's do you predict to make 1sts next year?

    AIC Rugby 2020

They will be as good defensively. The 9 and 10 next year will be much better defensively. As a team they will be as good defensively, and attack wise, they will probably be stronger, with a better 10 who will drive the team around the park and a better kicking game. Who will be 9 and 10...

Fair enough. You're right in that Moller and Radford will be very hard to replace, geez they were good to watch this year. Would love to have seen them shape up to the vaunted GPS centre pairings at BBC and TSS. Hayden Lammon will fill one spot - ferocious defender. Attackers will think...

    AIC Rugby 2020

I'll give it a crack. 1) Ash 2) SLC 3) Villa 4) Padua 5) Iona 6) St Pats 7) Eddies 8) Peters. Unless Peters have a stack of imports not sure where the smokiness is coming from. 1sts lost every game, the 2nds lost to Ash 4ths and the 10's had 1 team and didn't even contest scrums. Hope for...

"and the BSHS boys will steal this win and probably a couple of other things from the computer lab when they leave, just for good measure"

    QLD GPS Rugby 2019

Well done, but even you'd have to admit that was a get out of jail free card. BBC were the better team, and the disallowed try in the corner off the lineout when the ref was unsighted would have pushed the score out to 19-12 to BBC with conversion to come. And it appears the naysayers on the...

Just on that IGS pack, one player to watch out for the future is the orange headgeared number 8. Seen him play league and union for a few years and is an out and out footballer. Big, tough, aggressive and fast. Love watching him play.

I just want to address something that has been bugging me all throughout the AIC season, and hopefully true rugby lovers out there too, and that is the issue of uncontested scrums. It's actually becoming something of a joke. Time and again watching B teams (and some A teams) who went...
