Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

Gower had his moments for Italy. One glorious effort stood out. Took to the ball to the line, drew defenders, popped the ball to Kaine Robertson who scored. But there wasn't enough of it. I always had the feeling he was playing to orders, kick the pill rather than run with it. When he ran it he...

    Editors/ Proofreaders/juniors/coffee guy.

I don't know about the others, but sub-editing of the SMH, Age and sister publications was outsourced a couple of years ago. Whoever got the contract isn't doing their job.

It's standard procedure to claim you were abusing another player and not the ref. The whole sequence leading up to the card was farcical. Barnes told Myler he couldn't kick it straight out from the restart. Told him two or three times. Myler kicks it straight out. There is now a defence of...

Ewen McKenzie - Life after the Reds

The SRU have offered the job to Vern Cotter. He's waiting till Clermont's season is over before deciding which amounts to the end of the month. Tallies with the SRU's earlier statement about an announcement at the end of the month even if they more than implied that the signature was a done deal.

Vern Cotter's name is being bandied around too.

BOD off early last night with a back spasm. No indication yet of how serious. SOB pulled out with a calf problem too.

    Heineken Cup 2013

Can't see Nick Mallett uprooting for a support role. One of the big factors for him when he was in the mix for the England job was uprooting the family yet again.

Ewen McKenzie - Life after the Reds

With Link seemingly ruling himself out, there are some very very disappointed Scotland fans.

Yep, Treviso with 13 men looking much more dangerous was almost comical.

Treviso tonked Scarlets last night, their big, largely Azzurri back row blowing holes in the limp Scarlets defence almost at will. Not the farewell George North would have hoped for. Playing 14 he saw little pill thanks to Scarlets' fumbling, stumbling lateral attack, AWOL for at least one...

    Reds v Brumbies - RD10 2013

The kickable penalties turned down amounted to 3 lost points. Kick the penalty, take 3 points, restart. Brumbies defence no longer under siege. The ref bottled it. There should have been two more YCs. Including George Smith trotting around offside to kick the ball away.

Jake White says he turned down an interview with the IRFU. Probably true, though he has history in this area, having claimed to have been approached by the RFU for the England job.

There seems to be a short-list of four for the Ireland job: Schmidt, Les Kiss, Shaun Edwards and A.N. Other.

Munster and POC play away games outside Ireland. Plenty of opportunity to test his immunity from justice.

POC should rob a bank. "Very careless, Paul", admonished the Judge, "now off you go."

POC escapes citing. The Board decided his actions were only careless. What happened to reckless and/or dangerous?

Just saw it. Reckless and dangerous. Should be cited but whether he is will be another matter. The citing process is a dodgy one.

I suppose this is sort of On Topic here. The IRFU confirm they've approached Joe Schmidt about the job

    Heineken Cup 2013

The back-chatting and hands thrown into the air at every breakdown appealing for penalties*. Tiresome. *Unless you included that in the back-chatting comment.

I've always liked the look of Darren Cave. He's got the skills and, better still, can find the time and space to use them. Love to see whether he can do it at the top level. Tommy B has been sorely sorely missed.
