    Upping the foreign roster?

The Tahs and Brumbies problems have absolutely nothing to do with their teams on paper. They are damn strong, and pundits from across the Tasman and in SA agree on that point. Upping it won't help them. The Force's matchday 22 is not bad either, if they were all healthy. Could put a few sides...

What does everybody think about the law crackdown?

Re: Waratahs 2010 Thanks Gagger - for the merging and rule. Yes they are. See what Gagger posted above. They MUST release the carrier and allow him to place the ball. I learnt this rule back in 02/03 when I got a penalty when I got tackled in a subbies game by two players, one went to ground...

    Bulls vs Waratahs

Yeah, and fixing the current problems the Tahs have is fucking hard on a road trip to SA. Really can't see it happening when they've shown practically nothing in the first two games. This is why I picked the Stormers (but completely fluffed the margin, dumb Tahs) - you can't fix that many...

Signing carnage. T minus 3 weeks.

I would gladly lose one of Davies and Morahan plus Toua if we kept Hynes and one of Davies/Morahan. We may have been joking around, but a substantial number of the Rebels will be squad players from the other provincials and the Reds will lose players. Hynes is invaluable to the Reds now, a very...

    QLD Reds 2010

Agree completely. I remember going to Ballymore on occasion back in the 90s, and it wasn't a particularly good ground (as in facilities, stands, etc) even then. A fortune needs to be spent to bring it up to scratch. And we used to drive to Souths then take a free bus, but even that was painful -...

    Horwill gone for 9 months...

I agree with NTA. Byrnes looks like he could be a good hard lock with mongrel, but right now he can be more idiot at times. He was less idiot vs the Crusaders (apart from the card, which was cynical and deserved). I'm hopeful he can improve, the same way Horwill cut the dumb penalties from his...

ARU denies injury-hit Force Staniforth lifeline

Plus Staniforth is only signed for 4 or so games, yes? If so, then I'd leave him on the wing and try to get Hill to forge a combination with Tatupu, Harris or Bartholomuesz (when he returns, either can be at 10/12).

And from what Noddy mentioned, perhaps add Toua too, and I guess one of Morahan or Davies - perferably Davies. Don't say Queenslanders aren't generous. Tim Walsh? Fair enough. You're twisting my arm, though. But yeah, please don't touch any other of the current matchday 22 :'( Sorry, but that's...

ARU denies injury-hit Force Staniforth lifeline

It will take the Force a few weeks to adjust with Hill and Staniforth in, but they will be better for it. Hopefully Hill is still up to the S14 level. Although we wasn't the best 5/8 around, he went OK at S14 for the Chiefs...normally. Hill did look best in his limited time at 12, though. What...

    Hands off Hynes! :angryfire:

What does everybody think about the law crackdown?

Yeah, agree on that - the Sharks were poor. And they didn't win because of themselves, not the ref. Just the like the Brumbies were overrun by the Bulls. Nothing again to do with the ref. Players getting stuck into each other is either because it's a niggly game or the ref's man management is...

What does everybody think about the law crackdown?

Re: Waratahs 2010 No, it's not being interpreted incorrectly. The rules have always been that you have to give the player with the ball a chance to play the ball. It's just that they're back to enforcing it that way. Any talk of "primary tackler" or a guy on his feet not being inovled in the...

What does everybody think about the law crackdown?

Re: Waratahs 2010 Meanwhile, Waugh has a whine about the new laws in an inaccurate article written by Rubert Guinness. To be fair, it seems Guinness is having more of the whine. Some choice quotes: Now here's the irony: in the Reds v Tahs game a weak passive carry in the 79th minute right...

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Isn't Lucas injured right now? Last I saw he wasn't playing for the Reds second XV, either. There's a few non-starting halfback options in Aus for the Rebels that would be acceptable, I guess: Lucas, McKibbin, Holmes, Phibbs, O'Young, Kingi. For a new team like the Rebels Lucas in particular...

    Reds v Crusaders

Yeah, assuming Van is OK. I'm a bit suspicious that the ol' warhourse that is Van may be past it, despite improving with age in the last few years. Maybe he's like a fine wine; matured late and now he's leaving his drinking years. I'm not sold on Simmons yet. If Van isn't OK, I wouldn't mind...

    Reds v Crusaders

Ezra Taylor surely has to be moved to lock? He played as a lock/6 at the Highlanders, albeit a short one.

G&GR Reds Player of the Match (v Cru)

Davies was on the outside with pace, I think that if Turinuri threw an early ball then Davies could've stepped on the gas and had a better run to the line. It was only Carter covering from the side, and he burnt Carter easily after the switch.

    Tahs vs Stormers

Is this where we should be analysing the Tahs performance? Forward pack is not firing, and the pack is what gave them their wins last year. They just can't step up a gear at the moment. Barnes...stop kicking the freaking ball at every opportunity. I yelled at the TV when he did it at the Reds...

    Tahs vs Stormers

The same way the Tahs own Super rugby titles? Oh, wait... Not sure who to tip for this one. Really like Fourie and Habana out wide for the Stormers, but have serious doubts about their front row compared to the Tahs.

ARU denies injury-hit Force Staniforth lifeline

He was in the Academy. And that is the issue - no team wants to send a rising star and allow him to be potentially poached. I could only see it happening if the guy had a contract for a few years, which I think is unusual for an Academy player.
