Indeed...... Last year's sole women's game was Channel 7's highest rating Saturday night match for the year.

And today Essendon launched their team for next year........ so with their fanbase it's going to generate some extra buzz when it kicks off again in 2018.

And because of that it boosts the quality of those local competitions as players don't need to move to Sydney or Brisbane to find opportunities........ so really the NRC benefits club rugby.

Don't worry, I was being facetious........... There were calls from some folk back then for Canberra to no longer receive tests because they only got 15,000 against Fiji, also a year after getting a large crowd for Italy. I have to also agree about Saturday afternoon not being an ideal time...

We were going backwards before that happened........ and club rugby is not an adequate substitute for a third tier competition.

I can only go by what's been stated above......... that the Buildcorp money was less than what was originally reported, and it goes towards the ARU's admin costs. Foxtel look after player payments, flights, accommodation etc.
