    Line out strategies

Well, you can watch the video again as it's on the front page: http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/the-off-white-card-first-edition/ I have watched it a few times, and guess what: that ball is never, ever going to be called "not straight". If you pause it at 1 sec, right before Higgers takes...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

This will be close to Lipman's last year before his retirement as he's early 30s. He might play another year, or might not, but with Chamberlain and Saffy on the books, you're fine for 2011. 2012 will likely be another case, so I'd be surprised if the Rebels don't pick up a young openside for...

    Brumbies 2012

Agree, especially for Lilo. He looks natural as a 12, not too dissimilar to Gits years back at the Brumbies.

    Waratahs vs Reds - Round 1 - 2012R01

I think it was Foley as well. I think Foley has great acceleration, but not a lot of top-end speed. Although, I have only had limited viewings of Foley. In saying that, I did think initially that Foley had him covered and maybe dived a bit early.

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Oh, and probably Adam Wallace-Harrison from the top of my head. There's a few local boys in the Force team, but AWH has represented Aus-A, and the I don't think any of the local Force boys have. John Whelborn was a more successful WA player, having been the first WA player to play for the...

    Reds V Force Round 2 2012R02

The Brumbies wouldn't offer Ant a contract, and the twins wanted to stay together. The Reds wanted Saia to replace Moore, as Slim said, which was the catalyst for the deal, and the Reds were happy to take Ant in the bargain. Slim's version is pretty spot on. Moore was appreciated by Mooney...

    Waratahs vs Reds - Round 1 - 2012R01

mark_s; yeah, I agree. Shipperley never should've gotten through - he just drifted wide enough to go past Alcock, and stepped back on the inside to avoid Horne. Horne never should've gotten beaten on the inside when he had a defender outside of him, and no attacker. In Alcock's defence, he...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Nope, you read right. I thought it was more like 3 games, though, but your time frame could also be correct. Bit disappointed myself; I was looking forward to seeing how Cutch Jnr was going to go.

    Brumbies 2012

So does Coleman's injury mean that Mogg can stick around for a while longer? Or is Coleman not classed as an "outside back"?

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

No offence was taken, just correcting a ridiculous statement - "claim back", indeed. I am not too sure you become "naturalised" after living in a state for a few years, either. And I think you were more correct in your original assessments - Michael Foley can be claimed by NSW, for instance...

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

How can NSW "claim back" Mowen and Barnes? Mowen was born in Brisbane. Was in age rep teams, captained U21 Aus team. Spent several years in Reds Academy and then full team, but only got one cap, mainly due to an awful run of injuries. Finally he moved to the Tahs when he was 24 years old...

    3-2-1 Brumbies v Force

I thought he played for the Crusaders?

    Rebels v Waratahs Round 2 - 2012R02 - Dunlop Shield III

Shame about Mortlock - he's not the player he was, but he would be useful for some leadership and getting over the gain line. Also shame about Robinson - was one of the best forwards for the Rebels last year, along with Sommerville and Delve. Good news that Freier is back, though. I don't...

    Waratahs 2012

2009, I think, or 2010. My memory goes hazy on some years. He started the season returning from injury, lasted about 4 or 5 games (or something, again hazy memory) before getting injured again. Was awful in those first few games, and was good again much later in the season after returning...

    Waratahs 2012

Yup, was certainly Higgers. Rob Horne had an out of character moment, shoving Shipperley's head downwards, and Higgers runs in and reacts unnecessarily (was not out of character for Higgers!). Tom Carter then reacts to Higgers being in Horne's face. Two points: 1. Although Higgers started it...

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

332 points so far - I am happy enough with this considering some of my picks struggled. But only good enough for 99 in the G&GR league! Very tough league.

    Waratahs 2012

The whole distribution across the backline wasn't great. Generally once you get one bad pass early on, it becomes harder for each player to get it right. The Tahs were doing alright with Carter at 12 at the end of 2011. They just need to work on getting the pass in front of the man, and not...

    Waratahs vs Reds - Round 1 - 2012R01

Well, seeing as Shipperley then smoked half the Tahs team, I guess that makes TPN the fastest on the park! Maybe TPN should've done the fastest man in rugby instead of Turner?

    Western Force 2012

Godwin is now listed amongst the 30 contracted players on the Force website, so I assume he was upgraded for the year. http://www.westernforce.com.au/Team/EmiratesWesternForce.aspx

    Western Force 2012

Seymour has been upgraded to a full contract I think, previously he was EPS? They also have Godwin on a full contract, and Fairbanks as well, who can play fly half. I think the Force backline could go better with an actual 12 at 12, like Fairbanks, as opposed to a 13, like Sidey. Still, it is...
