    Shute Shield 2015

The Wicks really stood up in defence. Quite impressive and something they'll need to maintain leading into the finals.

    Australian Rugby / RA

. The AFL and Touch Footy things aren't new. I played competitive touch back in primary school. The AFL has been running programs for 20 odd years. But I do somewhat agree with you. Volunteers do great work but they are limited by time and resources. Something I've always wondered is why we...

    Shute Shield 2015

I'm not against the concept of a unified Western Sydney club. In terms of pooling resources etc. it could also provide the opportunity for a centralised club to focus on developing their juniors base.a how many junior clubs exist between both the clubs at present? Imagine if they combined their...

    Shute Shield 2015

I was wondering why they bothered to come back after half time. Like I said I saw about 15 mins into the 2nd half and they were all a sea.

    Shute Shield 2015

So I didn't miss too much more in terms of scoring.

    Shute Shield 2015

What was the final score? I had to duck out about 15 mins into the second half.

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

A global season would be great but no one seems willing to budge so its unlikely it will ever happen. I agree that Super Rugby needs some clear air regarding competition from the likes of RL and AFL and summer would offer that. But I doubt we'll ever see it. Which is why I'm just throwing this up here...

    Ideas for NRC 2015

Well, the JGC sort of provides a solid format in terms of centres. Sydney Nirth, South, West and N-West. Brisbane 1 and 2, ACT and Melbourne. If the money could be found then Perth.

    Shute Shield 2015

You want a growth area. Then put in in the Macarthur area. I live in Camden council area with a population of around 80,000. Over the next 15 years that figure is expected to triple. There are new suburbs and towns going up all over. It would be perfect. It's also an area that is underserved...

    Shute Shield 2015

I still think the best option for the Shute Shield is to split into two divisions of 8 teams. This would allow Penrith to remain a level above subbies and potentially open the door to some of the more ambitious subbies etc to take the step up. Yes, players will likely flock to the top 8 but if...

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

Cricket, Rugby League and AFL. Participation is indicative of popularity which translates to viewership. Those three are three of the biggest participation sports in the country and also dominate the ratings regardless whether it's FTA or PayTV.

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

Right, okay. Makes sense. Though Netball has significant challenges ahead. As I mentioned earlier ratings for the regular season weren't flash. They actually have similar issues to that of Rugby.

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

If you look at it like for like where you took out the greater reach afforded to it by FTA (133,000) the final only drew 94,000 on Fox. The same platform Rugby is restricted to. Now let's compare the ratings on Fox for each regular seasons and the next fortnight.

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

Netball has been televised for quite some time. Prior to the establishment of the ANZ Championship it featured on the ABC.

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

What you're overlooking is that this was the final. The biggest game of the year.As I already alluded to in another post these ratings weren't indicative of the average ratings throughout the season. There's also the fact that while on one of the digital channels the entire season including...

    I'll have you know I am a big exponent of women's sport.:D

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

The Swifts actually had to move their home games on several occasions to accomodate their crowds. They had a number of games with crowds of 10,000 odd. The Firebirds I think sold out every home game. The ratings for the season weren't super from what I can remember. I was watching some sports...

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

Again, biggest participation sport among women.

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

I'm not shocked by those ratings at all. Netball is the biggest women's sport in the country. The Australian teams have seen bumper crowds all season. The NBL would kill for those numbers. I honestly expected those ratings to be higher.

    Waratahs v Highlanders, semi-final, Saturday 27 June

I've never come out and said they would build a dynasty. Hell I wasn't even confident they'd make the finals until they did. You have to remember that as a Tahs fan I spent 19 years often being bitterly disappointed. Every season I'm hopeful but I never count my chicken's before they hatch. If...
