Samoa v All Blacks: Apia, 8/07/15

Gentlemen can we stick to the game? (FP in mod mode)

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

It has been pretty good overall for most of the year as far as I care. They scrum square, push straight and compete. They get done sometimes and do others as well

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Don't these stats depend on the game plan? Many teams choose not to compete at lineout. Although I expect our opposition to compete for everything

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Last year maybe, this year? no issue

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I think the forward balance should be about having 3 decent lineout options in the back 5 and two ball carriers on the field at any one time. So Skelton means two decent lineout back rowers will be needed, no Skelton means one lineout back rower. The 7 choice between Hooper & Pocock then...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

With 35 being selected, I wouldn't be surprised to see Speight selected, despite suspension, just to be part of the training

    Waratahs v Highlanders, semi-final, Saturday 27 June

I did like Cheiks's comment paraphrasing "you don't see many head high tackles 30cm off the ground" Personally I thought the penalty try was fair, but the yellow as well - harsh (no matter what the rules are)

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

We don't know, they weren't allowed to play their game, the Tahs had two real weaknesses in their team. One kicker in the backline and an average lineout. They were exploited effectively to stop most of the momentum and ramp up pressure. You then add the smart offside work when they did...

Fair enough, it wasn't isolated, me wrong

Yep, 20 years ago, he would have been spat out the back and thought fair enough, I shouldn't have been there

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

yeah, our lineout was awful, the scrum was competing and solid

    Waratahs v Highlanders, semi-final, Saturday 27 June

Actually my biggest pleasure of the weekend was to see the continued death of the cut out pass and the return of catch and pass skills; and support play

    Refereeing decisions

Agreed, but more about seeing something in a semi that hasn't been seen all season, or the season before. As for consistency, the biggest one is competing in the air, that is an absolute f*ckin lottery

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I think we will gamble a bit and play to win. Not play to minimise risk, so we will win some and get beaten hard sometimes as well

    Waratahs v Highlanders, semi-final, Saturday 27 June

It is just frustration, if it went the other way I would expect to see the same from other parties, but the Landers were clearly the better side and deserved their win.

I have no issue with the premise, or the penalty really. (apart from pulling it out of their arse in a semi final) The only proviso I have, is a want for the refs to be consistent.

Pretty well every try where there is heavy contact at the try line has some illegality. Especially in slow motion I look forward to seeing many player now hitting the naughty seat in the future as the refs clean up the game
