    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Fitting 12 into 3 spots is ample.

In the outside backs, TK will need to show he has rejuvenated after this year's fairly poor efforts to maintain his spot. I think Rona might displace him as the preferred or backup No 13, depending on where Kerevi plays in the lead up to the RWC. I still think Kerevi looks to be a better No 12...

Wallabies vs Ireland - 3rd test - Saturday 23rd June 2018 - Sydney Football Stadium

Yep, that's precisely who I mean. I knew after I'd posted that I had named the Reds player mistakenly, but hadn't yet got around to sorting out the correct name.

A few Waratahs' cast offs have come good in other situations KOB. Eg, Nabuli, M Ala'alatoa, Mowen, etc etc etc. I was not a fan of Deegan earlier on, but he looks to have matured and is playing some very good rugby with the Force, including against the Rebels and Crusaders. I certainly would...

Deegan. If I keep posting, maybe the name will embed itself into some brains. Or is it just unthinkable that a Force player could be called into the Wallabies' squad?

Very true. And Coleman looked to use his arms in that cleanout, so a penalty for a shoulder charge would have been wrong. In from the side maybe, but that doesn't seem to be penalised much these days. As you say, it was under penalty advantage anyway, so WTF?

Wallabies vs Ireland - 3rd test - Saturday 23rd June 2018 - Sydney Football Stadium

Yes, he was OK but could have been better. Some of his passing was off target, just as Phipps' passing was earlier in the game. Support players to both of them had to jump to take the ball, or delay their run. By far the worst example of a poor pass was the one, admittedly under knock-on...

Ah, come on. As soon as you put Josh Holmes' name forward, then your post loses credibility. Josh played for the Brumbies for a couple of years so I am very familiar with his hot and cold efforts. Short had a fairly good game yesterday but nothing spectacular and if that was Strang in the Uni...

Looks to be some preconceived views about Powell coming out of the woodwork. One thing he does better than Phipps is sniping. Otherwise, there's not a lot of difference in the way they both play the game. Probably not coincidental that the Wallabies' attack was much more threatening after Powell...

Not sure what to make of that game, and the series. Tonight was a slog fest between two side with very little attacking flair. Ireland won the battle of the advantage line I thought. The Wallabies again had the better of the scrum. Lineouts were pretty even - think the Wallabies won one against...

Kerevi has been kicking long for a few weeks now. Looks to be the longest of the regular starters, DHP included. Why don't we play to our strengths? Ahh, of course, that's not the structure.

    Brumbies 2019

Can't say I really noticed, but I'm sure that CLL would have been at 10 and Hawera at 12 in a number of plays when they've been on the field together. If so, might have been a bit invisible as in not being very successful? Peni looks to me to be an out and out outside back. In the present...

    Reds 2018

An excellent pack Emubum. How do you rate it against : Sio, Fainga'a, Ala'alatoa, Arnold, Carter, Samu, Pocock, Valetini? Fainga'a is currently in the Wallabies squad, Valetini I think has been with the squad and Carter is an ex-Wallaby playing the best football of his career. End of the day...

    Refereeing decisions

So true Sully, but it really didn't have quite the impact that WR (World Rugby) now seem to be implying. Just hypothetical, but wonder how a similar situation would be adjudicated if Barrett had fumbled the ball and Fall in his lower position had taken possession of the ball on its way to the ground. Would...

And reading between the lines of his comments, he also seemed to be more impressed with Joe Powell than either of the others.
