    The Wallabies Thread

If Cheika was going to pick Hodge at 15 & Folau on the wing, we would have seem it during the last 3 games. Realistically, if he was going to pick Beale at 15, I reckon we would have seen DHP there and Folau at wing. I would assume that If selected (and I think he should be) Beale will be a...

I will say that Cheika's comments indicate that he is playing the long game and he has really seen these tests as a preparation for the RC. I know that it would seem we are in diabolical shape on the evidence presented but if it is true he has been flogging the players physically and if he...

I dunno, I reckon it could. For all the criticism of Cheika he is not an idiot and he is a fan of Beale, Hunt & Folau. I thinks it's quite plausible he'll look to pick all 3, and I think the most obvious way to do that is Hunt at 12 & Beale & Folau filling 15 & 14. My preference would be Folau...

I'm not having a go at Foley because I don't understand how the game is played. I'm having a go at him because he isn't performing to the level of an international 10. His performance doesn't exonerate his teams mates or the coaching staff - nor does it mean that he should be dropped for an...

I noticed that too - and I guess your conclusion is fair enough. The average punter (and I include myself there) sees and misses lots of different things. In a game where it was pretty hard to pick 3 people who deserved points, a guy would did some really good things and some really poor things...

I see our lack of fitness as the most simple of premises FF (Folau Fainga'a). Are they conditioned well enough - not be a long shot. It manifests itself in lots of ways - breakdown of skills under pressure, lack of impact in contact, lack of second efforts/realignment/kick chase, lazy penalties under pressure...

I definitely think fitness is an issue and has been for a number of seasons. Dare I say it, since the last World Cup. We seem to be well below par across the board. Doesn't mean those other areas of our game don't need attention, but we definitely fall down in being able to sustain high quality...

Mate - front towers are always trying to cheat (the good ones and us not so good ones.) The true art is cheating, while making the other guy look like he is.

Yeah, he was. But I did think the Italians were also lucky that the ref was making all of his calls from the far side of the scrum. At least one of those penalties should have gone the other way IMO. But if your central point is that we lost the scrum battle - I agree.

I'm not looking for magic bullets - I know there are none. I'm more worried about death by 100 cuts.

I agree that Foley is better than the alternatives. But, for a player who has a relatively uncomplicated game there is still a considerable difference between his best and worst, and we saw too much of his worst in the last two games.

Simple question though - who? To be honest, I question that Quade deserves to be on the bench based on his super form this year and, until he shows he is committed to changing his tackling style to stop getting carded, I am very reluctant to see him starting for the Wallabies. After him, there...

I've always though Folau's best spot at test level was wing. But the gap between him and our next best fullback has historically been far bigger than the gap between humans our next best winger. It isn't at the moment.

Fair observation FP. To be honest, I can understand the retention of Hanigan, even though I'd personally prefer Higgers & Timani. But The inclusion of Dempsey & Horne has zero justification, IMO. Maybe if Dempsey wasn't injured he'd be starting for the Tahs and he would have form to justify...

From my perspective, the argument for picking Horne & not Fardy seems arse about to me. Both Fardy & Higgers were/are in better form than Hanigan or Dempsey. I don't see how Hanigan was any better than Higgers in the last two tests. If you want to develop young guys I personally don't think...

Pick Hunt, Beale and Folau in the starting side. Put them in whatever jerseys you want and just get them all to play their natural games. Their games complement each other perfectly and none of them spend their whole time playing the position associated with the number on their back. The only...

In 2011 Quade may have made a good full back (in attack at least). Unfortunately he appears to have lost his speed.
