Michael Lynagh's Australia XV (pro era)

Not much else going on today where I can get a bit of fun Reg.;):D

He is also a bit suspect in defense when the attacking player runs to his inside shoulder. Not exactly the way Beale is inclined to play, but opens up opportunities for inside passes to a winger coming in from the blind.

Exactly Derpus. But Rodda, Tui, Maddocks, Fainga'a, Samu and Banks are rookies when it comes to playing the ABs. In the likely scenario of another beating, these players just can't be shipped after one or two matches if they fail to set the world alight. They are the future and must be persevered...

Ahem. A bit of creative counting having Sharpie as a Force player when he was initially a Red. Same for Genia, who was certainly a Red when first selected. I would also have counted Foley as a Red, but stand corrected if he was playing for the Tahs when capped.

There are many local derbies where opportunity exists to give overworked players a rest. Especially if it was a sanctioned rest issued by RA where key players from both sides could be given time off. There are always solutions.

Very Reds-centric Reg. What, 8 or 9 out of the 15? I personally wouldn't have Cockbain, Sharpe or Foley in this side. In their places, I think should be Finegan (one "n"), Vickerman and either Moore or Paul. Finegan seemed to have more impact as a player than Cockbain. I was never a fan of...

What? Four wins by Aus Super Rugby sides over NZ sides this year is an immeasurable improvement on recent years. But otoh the Wallabies haven't improved at all, in fact have regressed as you have pointed out in regards to their results last year. Why should any of the Wallabies' coaching staff be...

    Brumbies 2019

RN, you'll have to stop this. Do you realise you are the only poster who is offering Hunt to the Brumbies, and you've now done it for about five hundred pages without a breath. You will be doing yourself some irreparable harm if you keep it up.

KOB, that response is a bit oblique for me. When did 10s get a mention?

Expect Swain to have a big influence at this level. Simone at 12 or 13. He plays either.

    NSW teams 2018

But that is a matter totally in the control of the SRU or whoever is charged with putting the SS season together. I really don't see any reason why the NRC should be shifted around to accommodate an uncooperative element like the SS.

OK, we are the Wallabies, but which teams are the possums, stoats and weasels?:)

Telling that five of the all time greats are still in the game today. They really are that good. Rokocoko would be stiff to miss out, as would Tana.

Agree entirely on Latho over Folau. I also think there are better options at wing than Tuquiri. Maybe Ben Tune or Rathbone. Great player he is, but I think Poey would miss out on the 6 spot to a true No 6, like Fardy of Melon. In what world would you play Kepu at LHP? At his best, he is an...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

WCR must be a typo of some sort as you mention that Brazil will have 2 teams and then say they won't be involved. Can you clarify please?

The risk is that we'd end up with a camel, but atm we only have a donkey anyway. I am sure that I've seen Cheika quoted on occasions saying (admitting) that he doesn't get to see much of the players from the outlying franchises and that he is more familiar with the NSW and maybe Qld players.

Given the squad available, I think it would have to be Meakes to 13. DHP might be an option but he looked completely underdone last weekend. The absence of Rona or English in the squad is a selection problem, not mine. I believe that, except for the period Matt was suffering a spate of head...

Yes, a selection panel would need to be established in a proper manner and would need to be able to travel to and attend as many matches as possible. But wouldn't that be more probably than the head coach alone being the arbiter of form in mutiple games where he just can't possible attend them all?

BH, thank you. I would also like to see Fainga'a have a bench spot in place of Latu. He really seemed to have problems with his throwing and he didn't do a lot around the ground to compensate for that problem. Personally, I'd move Hodge to 15 where his ability to kick long would be more of an...

Looking at results, I'd say that two 6s seem to work better than two 7s.
