NRC Round 7: Melbourne Rising vs Sydney Rays

Again. Played there a couple of weeks ago and was the prime target in the lineout which he performed to his credit. Better at lock than Sam Ward was yesterday. Indeed, Gus is not such a bad fill in if there's a vacancy at lock, but Sam should just stay at No 8.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I have a real feeling that TPN will miss the boat, either due to form or injury. OTH I expect James Slipper to be there, and probably competing for the starting LH spot in the harder games. I think Prior would be a very good inclusion, especially for his goal kicking ability in the lesser...

    The Wallabies Thread

Plenty of opportunity for Cheika to have tried To'omua at 10 in TRC, but he didn't. And the word is that Cheika is unlikely to play To'omua on the EOYT. Not much potential there for him to be the backup No 10 in the short term. Cheika again last night put Beale's name forward when asked about the...

    Reds 2019

Sully, I have to say I believe Stewart has shown good signs of overall improvement in his game this NRC. Think he should go on the EOYT. We need a backup, because it is clear as day now that Beale is not a 10, starting or backup. Hopefully Cheika can see the same message, but I won't hold my breath.

With Cheika facing the RA Board to explain (again) his plan for the Wallabies in 2019, what are the real, nitty gritty questions the Board should be putting to him? Some where I would like to see the answers are : 1. You have always maintained that Kurtley Beale is the Backup No 10 for...

    Wallabies 2018 Spring Tour

Reg, good to see you putting a lot of store on NRC form. Sadly, I don't think that will be the way Cheika goes with the EOYT squad. He will want wins, as Barabarian says above. I expect he will pick pretty much what he sees as being the strongest squad as I believe that he hasn't shown any...

    Wallabies 2018 Spring Tour

Signed with the Force in 2014 and has been there since. I am not aware of any previous representative honours that would disqualify him from the Wallabies, and he looks to easily meet the 3 year qualifying period. Has been in really good form for the Force in the NRC and imo would not...

    Wallabies 2018 Spring Tour

Will be close BH, if not smack on. Looking for a bolter at prop, I think Les Makin probably has it over any of the others for Super Rugby experience these days. And he is a powerhoese at 3. On the LH side, the best young scrummager is Harry Lloyd. I would like to see him get some development time...

    Rebels 2019

Went into a tackle around the knees/thighs head first. Great technique, which mystifyingly seems to be a favoured technique by many of our so called first class players.

That's true about Weeks but the Rising scrum wasn't just bossed by the Force, it was demolished. I don't think Weeks would have been the difference.

Clearly, either Hanson doesn't rate the opposition or he is planning a close loss to keep Michael Cheika in the HC position until the RWC.;):(

I haven't seen Harry Lloyd bested by any other prop in the NRC. Not the biggest man, but apparently immensely strong.

Wobblies v pumas - is Salta at altitude edition

Sure, but do you not have some critical thoughts about how the NSW sides are going, and feel at least a little frustrated. This is possibly not the right thread for the discussion but it does relate to how some fans react to the usual poor performances of the Wallabies.

Hey, Barbarian, serious question. Are you getting enjoyment out of the Sydney and NSW Country teams' efforts in the NRC? I will be quite impressed if you say you are, given their altogether disappointing tournaments to date.

A strong game without being outstanding. Seemed to get through without injury.

^^^^ The NRC would then just become a watered down version of the current Aus conference in Super + the Force. Is that what is needed? I would rather see the NRC expanded, not diminished.

What a joke. Knock ons, poor passes - offers nothing at all to the team.
