    Force vs Sharks - 2011R03

Ok so if I go into a game with the intention of taking an opposition players out of the game, and do so blatantly I can stay on the park? You have to be farking shitting me. I think you are overreacting for the simple fact that there are preciosuly few red cards and for the most part they are...

    Force vs Sharks - 2011R03

No. Didn't miss anything. I just disagreed. It looked nasty to me. The injure may or may not have influenced his decision. We won't know unless he tells us. I would say yes though.

    Super Rugby refs inconsistent?

You all watch too much MMA. Submission holds. :) Button down boys. I can probably go through footage of the weekend games and pick out dangerous play at the ruck from Saffers, Kiwis and Aussies. There's a bit of free for all when it comes to clearing out and it has been going on for a long...

I worry that you even spotted that, but point well made. :)

    Force vs Sharks - 2011R03

You're ignoring the point of my post. Don't put words in my mouth and let's keep Bakkies out of it. By the laws of the game and based on what the REF AND TOUCHIE SAW IN REAL TIME it was a red cardable offense. Gouging is deliberate. I would like to think that spear wasn't although we...

    Force vs Sharks - 2011R03

That is the point. The ref couldn't look again. He saw a spear tackle. Whether assisted or not and a guy was rendered unconscious. I maintain that most refs would have pulled a red no matter what. In hindsight we mostly agree it should have been yellow becuase of the assist but the ref had no...

    Force vs Sharks - 2011R03

Agree. Problem is the ref and assistant saw a guy being hammered head first into the turf, remaining motionless thereafer. The result was always going to be extreme and I think most refs would have reacted with a red. Look at it at full speed and it looks nasty. In slow motion you can...

    Waratahs vs Crusaders - 2011R03

I think you are jealous that the enemy has him. I was a big SBW skeptic but the ITM and EOYT chnaged that. Be very afraid. He is even starting to figure out what to do at the ruck. I have watched him carefully and his play off the ball has improved immensely as well. Thise two areas are...

    Waratahs vs Crusaders - 2011R03

Ref made mistakes both ways. Had little or no bearing on the game. He was bad though. Missed a load. Tight 5 got ragdolled, back row was ineffective, Halangawho is useless and Tom Carter really can't offer much if there are bigger, stronger people in front of him. Is Horne made of glass?

    The Rugby Club thread.

Disappointed in Kafe last night. Always thought he was quite level headed but he let himself down with his dogged defense of player power. Yes Rod, they won it. A long, long time ago. Irrelevant because the core player group now can't be compared to the core group back then.

Bloody decent team. That back row against Daniel/Alberts/Kankowski should be a cracker.

    Force vs Sharks - 2011R03

I wouldn't say the Sharks are brimming with confidence unless they are delusional. They have been mostly poor and decent fro glimpses. The Force are favourites in my book and I think the Sharks are well aware of the fact that they have a togh match ahead. Should be a cracker.

    Force vs Sharks - 2011R03

The Sharks botched four obvious tries on the weekend. They were totally dominant against the Blues in the forwards. On paper the Sharks pack looks awesome but they have had a problem finishing games off due to lack of penetration and finishing in the backs and on the evidence of last week it's...

    Utility backs

Ruan Pienaar, Frans Steyn, Brent Russel, Percy Montogomery. Yachvili has played 9 and 10, as has Lacroix. SA have a long history of locks playing back row and visa versa. Seems to me the SH teams have more utility players than those up North.

    OK, who's injured?

I know someone who had the same injury and for about two months hardly had strength in the arm. Can't imagine you can just carry on as normal.

Christchurch must retain World Cup fixtures

Exactly. Why would they start worrying about the $ now? This is not an opportunity for Australia to get in on the action. They need every tourist dollar they can possibly get.

Christchurch must retain World Cup fixtures

Why? They can move games to Auckland or Wellngton.

    OK, who's injured?

Not that sharpest tool in the shed TPN is he? Just back from a long injury and every tackle made he has to project himself like a human missile. Sometimes it's okay to just stop the guy and contest. Guys like him and Schalk Burger always look like they could break themselves in half.

What's going on with the Bulls?

Now boys... The Stormers got put under massive pressure by the Lions and forced into a yellow card in defense in the first half. They had to climb a mountain to win it. The Lions are looking way better that, well, ever. For what it's worth.
