    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

That should happen anytime a forward scrags a back who thinks they can be doing work in a ruck

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

I think the two things that kept us in the game was a decent exit strategy ((good ruck structure and Genia clearing without being charged down) even if the kicker isn't as long, he kicks from 15m up the field) and a semi functioning lineout that meant we could get our own ball

I think he will stay on the wing for a while yet, the wobs moved around a lot, Foley did a lot of work @ 10, Hodge running lines in the 10/12 channel and Cooper playing wider. I expect them to continue move around and be more "fluid" I still think Kerevi isn't the answer yet, against any...

ah no, I am saying it depends, it is that nuance thing

mate, it can be, every part of rugby has a counter, that is what makes it so interesting for example, a longer kicking game? to what end? to a team like the ABs has the opportunity to counter from 20 meters deeper, their effort to work back means they have plenty of time to get 4 or 5...

Actually I disagree, we start to be OK when we get parity, from about 35 minutes into the first test this year parity has been a dream We simply can't get enough ball to build pressure. We currently don't have parity at set piece or at ruck.

Yeah Jack Gibson's advice to Peter Stirling when playing at the SCG was kick to the seagulls ie find the grass, hang time or finding the grass are both equally effective at giving the defenders time to limit options. The good thing about this weekend is that the Boks are far less effective at...

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

Agreed, that first kick took them off guard, but after that they defended a few yards further back and their was no further threat created This continual drive to kick better and change the backs is lovely, but while your pigs are not providing decent, consistent ball, no back is going to be...

Interesting that we had that new 10 last match and the woes continued, we had that 10 who could "Pass and Kick" and ....................... gee look at the improvement o_O

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

I thought not having that second play maker was the biggest issue with the backs, Jones was smart enough to heavily defend him and we had no other creative options, add a strong defence and a dominant pack and ............................ Throughout his play with a decent 12 (like Beale) there...

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

It goes deeper than that, whoever is 10 and kicking has two real options. Kick to touch Kick to space The kick to touch is a re-set and suits teams with solid set piece and defensive lineout (does that sound like us?) The kick to space (which is the primary Wobs approach because we don't...

You don't pick Foley if you want a kicking 10, just like you didn't pick Larkham if you wanted a goal kicking 10. You always build a side around the strengths and weaknesses of the each player. "If" Foley is 10, you need other kicking options, when Larkham was 10 you needed a goal kicker etc...

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

agreed, but despite his kicking being criticized, his general play was pretty good. and I would suggest if Gits was still healthy he would still be at 10

A bit of revisionist there, Foley in the first & second English tests was not shabby at all

    Wallabies v Springboks - Suncorp, Brisbane, 10th September 2016

With the cattle in the squad, I don't see a better 10/12 or 7/8 combination possible I think that is the way they will start, look to the bench to see what is in the coaches mind in actual options I saw improvement in the attitude and intent last game, the difference in Cheika's approach is...

You guys have your best attacking 10 for years being hamstrung by a coach who hasn't had an idea how to play expansive rugby in his life time

Higgers has\had the same issues as Holloway, their best work is running on the fridges, and while laudable, we have a coach who needs\wants\expects more consistent effort in defense & grunt work cleaning out than either will consistently provide.

yeah, defending 2 on 4 vs the ABs is a not a way to improve your defensive stats
