    Where to for Super Rugby?

It's arse about by my thinking. A TT round robin means Aus teams play Aus teams again - and that should be conducted entirely in a domestic comp, home and away, with no input from NZ. TT only need be Aus v Kiwi teams. You could even start these games early - eg Anzac Day weekend would be a...

    Trans-Tasman Super Rugby 2021

Rules sorted out. I pretty much like each decision. https://www.theroar.com.au/2021/05/11/australia-and-new-zealand-agree-super-rugby-trans-tasman-rules/

    Yep.

TT Rnd 1: Highlanders v Reds

    Yeah he has.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Why not call the first the domestic comp and the second the TT? It's not just semantics. In one you have handed control to outside of Australia, in the other we retain it. In one commercial success is dictated to the NZ brand, the other we retain it. In one the casual fan can understand what is...

TT Rnd 1: Highlanders v Reds

    Who comes off, Jock?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Drua have been pre-approved by NZRU. I'm not sure that RA have endorsed the proposal (for the extended TT including Drua) yet.

TT Rnd 1: Highlanders v Reds

Surprised to see Jock on the wing. I would have thought 11: Vunivalu; 15: Campbell; 23: Hegarty. Not unhappy though.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Considered contra views are always important Barbarian. The size of the home crowd was a big win for sure. Waratahs can manage a large stadium, and the atmosphere in Melbourne if full would be great too. The real win in numbers was not just the stadium but also the broadcast numbers. How...

Super Rugby-TT: Rd 1 Western Force v Chiefs, May 15th, Perth

I think that the Force have exactly the style that Kiwi teams will find difficult. Not to say that they will win against the Chiefs, just that the Chiefs probably will need to adjust to cope. I'll be watching this one for sure.

    Wallabies 2021

Yep. We may well see To'omua at 12 and Paisami would take 13.

TT Rnd 1: Highlanders v Reds

Fair enough I wasn't really intending to name call. I do however think your read on Tupou's scrum technique is incorrect all the same. There is a real battle happening and there are consequences from it. His technique is actually sensational imo. The ramifications however are with the optics...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I am in no way talking NRC or similar when using the term "domestic professional comp". I am talking what is currently the top 23 at Reds, Waratahs, Brumbies, Force, Rebels. Playing here in a domestic comp in Australia. The second tier. If our second tier then develops in a way that is not...

TT Rnd 1: Highlanders v Reds

Tupou's angle could easily be pinged, especially when it is hitting the media so hard. You rely on the ref and interpretation, most of whom have never packed in the front row. The issue isn't as clear as the anti Tupou pundits claim though. He is a big boy and can't physically be 100% square...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Super provided a professional avenue for rugby in Australia which is a great thing. It was a fabulous initiative with some great success. But across the whole experiment Australian rugby went palpably backwards. SANZAAR was simply too many chefs in the kitchen. Super TT can be great for...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

In the mean time through Super we have aided ABs/NZ and their international viewers without much return. Let the domestic build, see what happens from there. Either way we are not heading down the same failed path.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Sure. But unfortunately the power in dictating how things work has been far from equal. It is well to premature to think that the NZRU get's this really truly. Push forward with the domestic as our tier 2, and do it strongly. We really do need to develop from here in Australia. Too long...
