    RWC - Wallabies v Ireland - 17th September 2011

This could bite Deans in the bum and leave big ugly tooth marks. Why on earth not bring two sevens where there is good chance that some games may be plated in shitty weather? Ben could play a snorter but jeez that is a good Oirish back row.

RWC 2011 - Pool D - Fiji, Namibia, Wales, South Africa, Samoa

Johan Muller ruled out. Francois Louw to come onto the bench. Alberts to cover lock. We will finish the game with a pack that has five loose forwards on the field. Smit likely to finish the game at 3 which doesn't bother me against Fiji (the reason is that they have /beast on the bench who...

The Springboks at the Rugby World Cup

Won't make sense. You have two other guys on the park who can cover 10 plus Pienaar on the bench. So another 10/12 cover makes no sense. I am happy that we can bring real pace off the bench in de Jongh and Hougaard.

RWC 2011 - Pool D - Fiji, Namibia, Wales, South Africa, Samoa

If we lose against Fiji we may as well go home. Based on what I saw in the Pacific Nations Cup and their first performance against Namibia this teams isn't nearly as good as the 2007 version. No doubt they will lift and play out their skin but we just need to keep structure and slow the game...

    Recruitment post World Cup

Burger is one of Saracens top players so doubt a Super team will afford him. Van Wyk is an amateur and he works for a brewer :)

    Recruitment post World Cup

The Namibian and Canadian 13's are both guns. The Canadian bloke, vd Merwe, is of good boer stock. He runs lines like a 13 should. Would make strides in and Super 15 team. The bearded Canadian six is a machine. He'd do well in any Super Team, although he is on the small side.

The Springboks at the Rugby World Cup

RWC 2011 - It only hurts when I laugh

Horrible thing to say but I am relieved. Word is that Odwa will start. Kind of makes sense as they would be worried about Aplon's defense against the huge Fiji munters.

RWC 2011 - It only hurts when I laugh

Definitely. If he is out for the Cup they'll throw a tantrum and send everyone home.

Sheridan out for the World Cup. Wallabies scrum starting to look a lot better

People who think they lose scrummaging power haven't seen much of Stevens.

Great. Just what we need. Another funny guy.

    Springbokke vs Fiji Match thread

I reckon this ball isn't going to allow those. I was watching him in the warmups and the was struggle to get the distance. Could have been the wind though.

South Africa v Wales match thread

I wouldn't worry too much. It's too logical for our coach. He saw Spies run 100m to score a try 2 years ago and he is still fixated on that one moment.

South Africa v Wales match thread

And Alberts. Watch the last 15 minutes again and look at his cleanouts. This four together can give us breakdown ascendancy. Throw in Steenkamp who started to look like he is getting fit and we suddenly look handy in the pack.

South Africa v Wales match thread

Reckon he has a good chance to take over Bok captaincy and has another World Cup in him if his body holds up which is questionable seeing as he apparently doesn't care much for it :)

South Africa v Wales match thread

Lol I ended up in the same hotel by accident so I saw the players quite a bit. Too late now I am back in Aus but they may extradite me. I won't mind, as long as they give me some match tickets. :)

South Africa v Wales match thread

Nope I am being serious. He has no peer in terms of goal kicking but his kicking out of hand has been average, his defense is crap and the only attacking structure he understand is when he climbs into the eggs and bacon over brekkie. I'll be okay if he stays at ten but if we don't start...

    Mark Lawrence Retires

More great work from the IRB and Paddy. Anyone who has read his blogs will see how knowledgeable this bloke is. But don't worry boys. Paddy reckons Bryce Lawrence and Alain Roland are better so all is good.

    Springbokke vs Fiji Match thread

JdV has been poor this year and hasn't made impact in tests since 2009. Move Frans Steyn to 12 (his best position) or play de Jongh. In both cases they offer us more I am afraid. JdV has been a great servant but I reckon his time is all but up. Replacing Matfield is another matter. I was hugely...

Alberts can cover. They really should call up Mostert and send Bakkies home.
