Waratahs v Highlanders - Super Rugby round 3

The Clan have better depth than they have had in the past few years. They are in better shape to make the finals than they have ever been. Their achilles heel was at prop, back row and 10 and it all went to shit last year when they lost key players. Much better roster in those positions this...

    2012 S15 SA Conference

Goosen is talented. Let's see him consistently play to that potential before we get too excited. "Good to see our young guns standing up against the might Sharks tight five" The might? Two rookie props that are lucky to play super rugby and two journeymen locks? I agree those young Stormers...

Waratahs v Highlanders - Super Rugby round 3

On the evidence of the first two rounds I would be worried if I were a Tahs man. The Clan are fierce at the breakdown and play the game at a much higher pace. Their general skills levels have been higher than all the Aus and SA teams. I'm going Clan by 7. Sorry. :(

    Suncorp Stadium Staff

Went to Brisbane on a corporate cricket gig thingie a few years back when they ejected the trumpet guy for inciting potential mass stampede with his rendition of When the Saints go marching in. You have GOt to watch these things. The idea is clearly to have no fun at all. Every five minutes a...

    Roll Away. Yeah, right!

Actually I think what you are referring to is having an even more negative impact on the game. I was really hoping the refs would rack up the cards in the early rounds to lay down the law but it seems they are rather just blowing more and warning more. More of the same it seems. Last night's...

    Highlanders V Crusaders Round 2 (2012)

Back to the game I think the SA and Aus teams have their work cut out against these two teams and the Chiefs this year. They are playing at a pace that makes the Aus and SA games seem like they are looking for parking.

    Roll Away. Yeah, right!

Thanks all. Very valid points. I fully understand how we arrived here but it still gives me the shits that we seem to be introducing apparent solutions to problems, creating a whole lot of new ones. It seems absurd at times.

2012 S15 New Kids on the Block

Gone-Barlow. What a player. Tim Nanai-Williams although not a newbie is also good to watch. Jacques Potgieter at blindside has surprised me at the Bulls. He came into the starting side because his namesake Dewaldt decided to put his arm through a window a couple of weeks ago. The latter...

    Roll Away. Yeah, right!

I did a bit of an experiment and decided to rewind and play back slow every time a player got pinged for not rolling away (two SA games I recorded over night). It was amusing. In the vast majority of cases there was no way in hell the offending player was able to roll, let alone move. At one...

    2012 S15 SA Conference

Solid performance by the Bulls. Most encouraged by the defense that looks very well organised although hit must be said that the Cheetahs weren't asking too many questions. Nice to build up the points difference. I have no doubt is will be important in the final conference analysis. Jacques...

    Plumtree has a whinge

Spoony you seriously risk losing it mate. Take some time to think before you post. The general concept here is to post something that is related to the preceding thread. Please also stop copying and pasting reams and reams of stuff. Use the quotes. Cite the source.

    2012 S15 SA Conference

:D On the topic, Greyling was okay but he has some work to do scrum time. Sadly for him he plays with one of the weakest TH props in the comp in W Kruger. I'd love to see someone else step up at 3 for the Bulls this year. Greyling is probably hamstrung because his 3 barely ever gets the...

    Plumtree has a whinge

Spoony to suggest that a Kiwi guest journo talks up the Bulls because of some indirect involvement in the Franchise of the broadcaster that pays him is preposterous. Read again. he questions the significance of beating a hurricanes team that is at ground zero, at home against the Stormers, with...

    Plumtree has a whinge

Plum is getting his excuses in early. Someone else said it but I fear I have been taken in too early by the renewed Sharks hype. On the whole I don't buy that the SA derbies are more intense. However, would it be fair to say that there is very little needle in say a Rebels vs Reds game? Very...

    Plumtree has a whinge

Plumtree is a bit of a joke. Worst coach to hang on to his job for that long. With the players and the money at the Sharks he should have done better by no.w Year after year he failed to recruit in important positions. He plays an outdated game plan that was started by Ian Macintosh at the...

    Too many penalty goals

No! How many timee has this been dioscussed? This is a license for the defending team to infringe and it does not reward sustained pressure enough.

    2012 S15 SA Conference

Sharks better grow some nuts real quick. They got man handled by a young Bulls pack. Etzebeth to the bench? Big call. So much wrong with the Sharks it's hard to see how they will turn it around in a week. Agree on Koster. Never rated him but I guess is experience will keep him on the park...

    2012 S15 SA Conference

Saw Etzebeth for the first time in the U/21 World cup and though this guy looks the goods. We might have a Bakkies with a brain? Imagine that. Between those two and Bekker I am sleeping a little better at night. Juandre could at a pinch cover the back row. Certainly has the pace. Makes him...

Fark. Sadie gone for three weeks. Bulls have midfield issue. Might have to start with Kirchner at 13 unless Olivier recovers in time. We'll have to wait 4 weeks to see this exciting young paring again.

I hope Grant is in better shape than he was last year. Van Aswegen is not a Super Rugby quality ten from what I have seen. Looks lost.
