    Waratahs 2012

"That clodhopper" has been the first choice 10 for the best Shute Shield club over the last five years. Given the abundance of talent at the club, it seems unusual that someone so poor has reached such lofty heights. Or is it perhaps that your rush to judgement is a little hasty.

    2011 Spring Tour

Off thread I know but I think you might cry if he's fit for the two Reds games and the finals.

    Heineken European Cup 2012

If they go as well as they did against SF last weekend then its going to be very ugly.

    2011 Spring Tour

So we are taking three halfbacks for two games? Phipps has to be in line to be the next "splinters".

    National Academy 2012

Given the Tah injury toll this year, we had to go deeper than 35 (used 38 or 39 I think). I would not be surprised if franchises did not use the accademy, particularly if they needed a tight five player. In the tight five you don't reach maturity till 25+ and what 25+ year old can live on $15K...

    Waratahs 2012

Mods required!! :) This is a Tah thread, we don't go in for that sort of fashion stuff up here in Sydney mate. More interested in the footy than the glamour.

    Waratahs 2012

Just looked at the Tah website. Its a marketing disgrace! The thirty man squad is photographed (badly) in the sky blue jersey except that: AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is in all yellow Bernard Foley is in green and gold (maybe a sevens jersey?) Vickerman is in a dark blue Waratahs windcheater. And the absolute...

    Lions 2012

Paarl, This is good news for the Super comp. With the rise last year of the Cheetahs and now this year the Lions I expect that the SA franchise will be much more even in quality. This will lead to less dud games and raise the level of competition across the board as there will no longer be...

    Blind-Blindside

Every Waratah supporter is praying that it was second year syndrome. His break through year was so impressive, but in my opinion he needs to substantially uprate his fitness so he can get to more rucks more quickly. There was a G&GR clip up about six months ago where he an Mumm were in a...

    2011 Spring Tour

Agree just doesn't cut it. Daley must know that he will never be a decent prop until he learns how to scrummage. He needs to get significantly stronger through gym work and then start to apply that strength to scrummaging. Touring would be absolutely wrong for him.

    2011 Spring Tour

If we took Stannard he could also be the the reserve halfback.

    Waratahs 2012

Perhaps a little comparison across the ditch would show you that your definition of success and rating a team as an under-achiever is just nowhere near reasonable. In NZ, the Clan have been like the Cheetahs - occasionally showing a bit of promise but never making the semis (I know, in the...

    2012 S15 Stormers

I don't see much of your domestic comp but from the Super games it was clear that you have serious problems with your backline attack and need a good backline coach to turn the forward dominance into points. Clearly there aren't many good ones in SA (refer WC quarter final), so you probably...

    Waratahs 2012

I don't know about the 200kg but 2012 is the second year of a two year contract. That means we (Tahs) have to buy him back at the end of next year. Whatever it cost would be worth it. He is the best tight head scrummaging prop in Australia. The rest is just icing on the cake. If we make...

Wayne Smith signs off as chief rugby writer at the Australian

That might have been his last report, but by gum he made it a doosey!! That has to be one of the best and most courageous pieces of rugby writing I have read. Totally committed to the game, totally accurate in exposing our masters' hypocrisies, beautifully written. Sad to see him go. All we...

2011 IRB Player of the Year

Feel sad for Kaino though; he was a class above any other 6 in the world this year, absolutely huge for New Zealand. Look at what happened when he wasn't there in Brisbane and when he was there at Eden Park ten days ago. I reckon if Nonu hadn't taken votes off him he was home and hosed despite...

    So where to from here?

Lots of things can be potentially comparable. Barnes plays a similar conservative style as Lynagh did, JOC (James O'Connor) could be as good as Horan and Horne has lots of Little characteristics but probably hits harder. So they might one day be as good as Lynagh, Horan and Little and if they get there I for...

    Wallaby injuries recovery time frames

Interesting that out of ten players from the Australian team who have serious injuries, six of them are Tahs. Add TPN who didn't look good when he came off and that is seven out of eleven. Given the Tah injury toll in 2011 does anyone have a reasonable theory as to why the Tahs players are...

RWC FINAL - New Zealand vs France

And I thought this was a rugby chat site, not the philosophers zone.

RWC FINAL - New Zealand vs France

I'd agree with this except that Rodney Blake went there and it did nothing for his forward play.
