Yeah, I would assume it's the same reason why the Australian comp has yet to be officially confirmed. Considering Fox Sports have almost no content right now, it would be suicidal of them to not show these games.

They save a lot of money, and they get national coverage......... They're only on FTA is because they pay Channel 7 to air it, which is not something they could sustain long term. And as part of RA's broadcast package they were going to receive a new competition with the top clubs from SS...

I’ve also just heard that quite a number of people from channel 7’s sport department have been let go, and some AFL programs won’t be returning.......... there’s just no money for it.

Nah, they were 4th on overall competition points......... the only o/s teams they lost to were the 3 that finished above them - Crusaders, Jaguares and Hurricanes. If that's not on merit, well.........

I still don't have a problem with that......... ultimately there's really no completely fair scenario, unless every team plays each other the same amount of times, and if that's only once then the competition is too short, and if it's twice that blows out travel costs and I think that's one area...
