It helps they employed a well executed kicking game

New Zealand vs Argentina, Nov 14, 2020

It was one of those games that showed it is rubbish to play down games with low tries/high penalty kicks. Hard fought, lots of heavy contact and shots. No lack the of effort to play, but defence was excellent at cutting down space. Very entertaining.

Plus if Koroibete decided to not put in for 12 months there is significant risk his contract value is going on diminish anyway. Far better to see out his contract in great form. He is young enough to still sign a significant contract at the end of his current period.

Did Western Force just become Super AU favourites?

To be fair on that point I thought Rennie had commented specifically on that point - he was here for 4 years and his intent was to have a coaching group of Australians with the credentials to take the top job. Just another reason I think Rennie was an outstanding choice.

Well - I specifically said ‘some hope’ rather than ‘some confidence’. Most of your observations are valid - not the least of which the query around the need for locks. It is a big gap, as to is the need of some Super level squad players to provide depth. I do think you’re underselling Walton a...

    Waratahs 2021

I get why Tahs supporters would be a bit frustrated - but there must be some hope in the nucleus of the squad, isn’t there? Bell, Horton, HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes), Tizzano, Harris, Swinton, Gordon, Harrison, Nawaqanitawase, Moeroa, Walton, Ramm & Maddocks is the bones of a very good side and includes some if the...

I know - I wasn’t being critical of your question. I probably didn’t need to post my comment as a reply to yours.

I’m happy to take the stats at face value. Or at least I am not going to go to any effort to disprove the opinion of the doubters. At the end of the day we’ll all soon see if he has the goods or not. From my perspective the two thing are that we should have realistic expectations for him...

It’ll be a great problem to have and I don’t think we’re too far away. I know Nawaqanitawase was found out at Super level this year, but he still had moments of brilliance and is only a kid. Give him a year or two and I think he’ll be in that group too.

Here is another view on Wright. FWIW I don’t necessarily agree with the conclusion in that it appears to place Wright as a preferred 6 in front of Swinton, but it does provide a perspective on his credentials to fill the 6 in Swinton’s absence and makes a good case for his spot in the 20 jersey...

I’m not sure Vunivalu is as good a league player as Koroibete was, but I am hoping that he will make up for it by having better rugby smarts/instincts.

    Wallabies 2020

I agree it’s unlikely. I guess I can just see a scenario where it happens. From what I read his comments after the GF were presented out of context by a league journo. There was another article which quoted at about the same time which made out that he said something along the lines of he...

    Wallabies 2020

That was the figure I remember being quoted. Happy to be corrected if that is wrong. I’m not saying he is worth that, nor that he will be a sensation straight away (or possibly ever). We should be realistic and expect him to have a settling period. But he is a very good league player and has...

Surely if you have to sit out a season you’re thinking it’s time to stop?

Is there potentially a move to protect the Wallabies investment here. Cap him so he can’t be tempted by selection for Fiji? I know many would be pissed off - but if they are going to give the guy $900k I’d could see logic in making 100% sure he was locked down

I rarely watch league these days but I’ve still seen enough to say very confidently this is not true. He’s very good. Whether it translates is another thing, but he’s been very good in league.

Yep. Both tackles were avoidable. Both players knew the potential consequences when they went in high.

I thought he could play his Pau contract and would still be available for all tests
