Reds vs Blues, Suncorp Stadium, 2011R13

9 All Blacks in the starting side isn't too bad....

Which Team Will Win The S15 and Why?

The thing about the Blues is that they have the potential to run any team off the field on the night. They can play the best open-field, counter-attacking, free-flowing, mind-boggling rugby you've ever seen but they are starting to also become a team that can grind out a win as per the last two...

    Can we have Cooper & O'Conner @10/12?

Whoever replaces QC (Quade Cooper) doesn't have to be a hard-hitter....they just have to realise that they can't play touch footy on both offense AND defense.....

Who says NZ wants another team? We've got 5 and we have probably the smallest player base.....where would they be based?? Sorry, but NZ doesn't need another Super team...

    Eddie Jones: Stopping Sonny Bill

Fair enough. Sounds good to me....

    Fainga'a's are flankers

Sorry, I thought that the suggestion was that Ant was slow rather than Fruean being fast....

    Eddie Jones: Stopping Sonny Bill

Can't see this being effective. Both defenders are unsure as to who makes the tackle which means SBW just dummies and goes (actually, I did this in a game just a couple of weeks ago to score a try :) ). If they both commit hard to ensure the tackle, it still leaves the off-load option open...

Changing the Culture of a Super Rugby Team

Maybe outside Auckland it may have seemed that way but the fans remember the days of David Nucifora, Jed Rowlands and Peter Sloan. Nucifora in particular, seemed unable to connect with the large PI player base in Auckland and know how to motivate certain players. You may remember that Ali...

    Fainga'a's are flankers

A bit like AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) did when they met the Brumbies? Fruean is pretty quick....

Changing the Culture of a Super Rugby Team

I think Pat Lam has struggled with changing the Blues culture but in his 3rd season, it's starting to payoff. His 'Coach's Corner' each week is a good insight into his coaching style/ethos.

We've already played the Highlanders twice....play the Canes this weekend and then we'll have the Crusaders and Chiefs to contend with. The Blues are playing with better consistency and structure - not seen since about 2002 - but they still look fragile at times. Toeava's Super season is...

    Super 15 Format

The only thing I don't like about the draw this year is that it took 11 weeks before the Reds played a NZ team. The conference games are obviously important but for NZ and SA, they aren't that big of a deal cos we have provincial competitions anyway....I like watching us play SA and AUS...

What The Hell Was That For?

I have no idea. Again, it isn't a question about whether one gets control at some stage but if they catch it cleanly. It's an interesting one....

What The Hell Was That For?

The obvious difference is that there is no requirement to catch a pass cleanly.

Digby Ioane is a bit of trouble

    1. 'worst ref ever' is not an 'obvious point of view' it's just a point of view. 2. The Code of Conduct for SANZAR was set up when the game went professional or afterwards because there wasn't a SANZAR previous to that. And it doesn't matter if it's professional or not. 3...

Digby Ioane is a bit of trouble

I'd say it refers to 'all participants' in the SANZAR tournament rather than individual games. eg. If Isaia Toeava watched the game at home and then tweeted something along the lines of "the ref for the Reds v Hurricanes game was absolutely crap" then he'd be up for the same charge even though...

What The Hell Was That For?

Offside Rules: 11.2 BEING PUT ONSIDE BY THE ACTION OF A TEAM-MATE In general play, there are three ways by which an offside player can be put onside by actions of that player or of team mates: (a) Action by the player. When the offside player runs behind the team-mate who last kicked, touched...
