the clear take-away from this, one way or another, irrespective of pain or built-in positioning from SRU clubs, NSWRU and the Waratahs, any successful process going forward MUST have buy-in from the Sydney club movement. From Subbies up.

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

Watch out in the line outs though. Scrum favour to us, slightly. Maul favour the Brums, slightly. Kicking game? to be seen. Suspect territory may drive this game. Both teams can take points when they enter the red zone solidly.

This is what I was missing.I was working on Vunivalu making good. Add Jock, Petaia, Flook, Daugunu - felt like we had it covered. If Vunivalu is out, depth is reduced and I can the logic of an older player covering a couple of years. I'd still be focussed at hooker and 2nd row.

So wing. Barring a number of simultaneous injuries, I don't see him starting. Isn't that a waste of a marquee? Have to admit his physical stats are impressive. Droaese is what, 23? Nadolo is 35? Do I have that right? Seems an odd exchange on any number of levels. What am I missing?

Where would he fit? We seem to have a surfeit of wingers. Ditto in the centres. Can he do hooker? Or lock?

I’m not sure it’s as simple as that. I was a great critic of Stewart at 10, and he was not a traditional 12 neither. In terms of rugby “memes” the bloke breaks the mold. He is a fabulous rugby player, possibly even to WB standard, but he doesn’t fit a lot of standard thinking of roles and...

    Reds 2022

For goodness sake this is a silly discussion. There are not many generally informed fan opinion sites that really give cover to the Reds. They’d be mad not to monitor the place. Reg isn’t saying anything revolutionary here.

79HVV-JNJVJ-KWNHS-5JWQX-77RJH Horan is a dill, but I think our recollections of Kearns may be fading.

RR I don't actually disagree with your assessment. However in three rounds he took 15 in our team of the week twice, pretty clearly the form 15 at that point. Three rounds is three rounds, not a season making a claim, but he had done what he could so far this season. He doesn't get that chance...

The reason I favour a domestic comp is simply because NZ has shown no interest in being supportive of your franchise planning. It leaves few alternative to a) kicking the can down the road (what we have in Super Pacific); or b) domestic and disconnection with NZ below international level.

He's not got a strong case for the starting 15 once the wingers are back and Petaia is at FB. If we are are really presenting Jock as a Hegarty-style utility back he's going to need more time at 10 but he isn't ever going to displace JOC (James O'Connor), is he? Nor will he displace the centres. He's fighting...

It gets interesting if/when Vunivalu and Daugunu return. Flook is on fire.

Still. On a results based analysis, I'd humbly suggest that Thorn's subbing was perfect. I don't doubt he might prefer less risk next time. But it worked. Targeting the Drua game for these actions is also not surprising. If Thorn learns anything I hope it is, that was a risk, it worked and it...

Yep. BUT. We've got the best chance we can. Our top teams are going to enter the TT with more points than the top teams in NZ. We have a domestic comp to build our abilities before we have to meet the Kiwis. We have a silly skewed cut off for the finals. All these things work for us and make...

I thought the tackle on Paisami should have been reviewed.

Clearly RR, Jock has not previously been invited to the WB squad, not as a miss. He's been a long shot for ages. That said, in the first 3 rounds he is the form 15. 3 rounds without Hodge playing. Banks is my favourite WB 15, but he's had a good Super game? Compared to Jock's form? look 3/4...
