    HSBC Sevens 2018-19

Gee. I remember when we cared about the Sevens.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Pretty good considering that the Jaguares probably do not have too many local fans.

    RD 15: Sunwolves v Rebels

Hooper can do the throwing. Fixed.

    Shute Shield 2019

Talking about the Grand Final venue being at Parramatta, just for fun I checked out the time it takes to drive from Newport to Parramatta. 48 minutes. From Newport to Moore Park. 46 minutes. From Newport to Concord. 45 minutes.

    Shute Shield 2019

Did you notice the word "comparatively"? Let's see how many the Tahs draw tonight. 8000 might look pretty good. And which crowd will enjoy the experience more do you reckon? It beats me why the SS does not rate better. Maybe good old parochialism.

    Shute Shield 2019

If Shute Shield is comparatively the most popular rugby in the nation, what does that tell us?

Struth. What a game. Looks as though the grass roots are pretty healthy.

R15: Waratahs vs Jaguares @ Western Sydney Stadium - Saturday 25 May 2019

Jaguares are potentially a tough ask. Depends I suppose, on their selections, and on their commitment.

    Australian Rugby / RA

If the grassroots needs funding, the game is dying. It just seems so frigging obvious to me. If the game is not innately popular enough to attract kids in particular to play it for fun, if it is not popular enough for teenagers to play it, at school or on weekends, ditto for adults; if it is...

    Rugby 7s general chat

Speed, power, strength and accuracy. We have got it all, except speed. Here's hoping.

Now he needs to dye it blonde, or red, or something. Never fails to catch the selectors' eyes.

    RD 15: Sunwolves v Rebels

Or better still, all Australian half backs should be taught to kick. A half back without a proper box kick will never lead a team to a World Cup win these days.

According to Roy Morgan, SOCCER is by far the most popular football code in terms of participants, they have almost 10 times the number that we have. Do you think that might be a factor when politicians decide to hand out money?

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

We are going to have to take some selection risks, particularly in the backs.

    The Israel Folau saga

Straw man, did you say before? Pot, kettle, black. Being called a "cane toad" or a "banjo plucker" is just a bit of a joke. Threatening a kid who is struggling with his or her sexuality that he or she will "go to Hell unless he repents" is not a bit of a joke. This not about "class actions"...

    The Israel Folau saga

This is an Australian rugby forum, Izzy does not play rugby in Australia any more, apparently. Maybe it is time for the thread to be closed down.

    The Israel Folau saga

Incidentally, some biblical scholars are of the view that the injunction was against male prostitution, which apparently was a problem in the vast marketplace of the Temple.

Once upon a time it depended on whether the key was in the ignition.

    Shute Shield 2019

Not much of a game, to be honest. Gordon looked pretty good for most of the first 50 or so minutes, but their scrum let them down at a crucial stage, the lost one of their props for 10 and it was all over. Pat Sio was immense.
