Wallabies v Ireland, Sun 20th Nov 7am AEDT

New week, new match thread, same hangover from a 1 point loss. With Rennie having flagged that this will be our best available team, we'll (in theory) see where we truly stand. Not sure I'm particularly looking forward to this one.

    Wallabies 2023

Thinking that any single change of personnel, particularly a coach, is going to uproot the Wallabies / Rugby Australia and lead them towards greener pastures is setting yourself up for disappointment. We've had 6 coaches since 2001 - all with good intentions, all (post-Eddie) heralded as the...

It isn't pretty reading. In his last 7 matches: England 1: red card for headbutt Argentina 1: should've been yellow carded for a shoulder on a chaser Bledisloe 1: yellow card (but met red card threshold) for dangerous clear out Italy: should've been yellow carded for a shoulder on a chaser

this big *of* a brain snap

Wallabies v Italy, Florence, Sun 13th Nov 12am AEDT

This is some of the dumbest shit I've ever seen - incredibly similar to another shoulder he put on that wasn't picked up during the first Argentina game. I don't care how good his maul defence is, if you're having this big of a brain snap on basically every outing, you're a liability and should...

    Wallabies 2023

Whoever is chosen is coming in as injury cover, not because they're favoured over the centres currently available in the squad. As @Wilson said, it's unlikely they get game time, barring any further injuries.

I'm not sold on Lolesio either, but this is just untrue.

    Wallabies 2023

Any word yet on the centre cover coming into the squad? I know Rennie said they'd be coming from Aus, but I would've thought they'd get them over there ASAP. After Italy, does Rennie risk blooding Stewart / Keunzle / Henry, or do we fall back to Beale? Both routes are equally as risky imo, as...

Shigs, I really recommend you read up on Confirmation Bias if you aren’t familiar. Your blood pressure might thank you https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

The fact that Petaia's coming back from a minor injury is probably a factor in why he's not starting too - on form for Rennie.

Looks slightly smaller in my eyes too, but I think the key difference is change in body composition. A lot more muscle on him now

    Reds 2023

Not only is his D a liability, but I worry we'd fall into the trap of playing Kerevi-ball again with an elusive centre who doesn't have a strong offload game. Plus, we've already got a number of solid centres battling it out for a spot in the 23.

    Refereeing decisions

Ah right, sorry misinterpreted your initial post. The host broadcaster may not have influence over the TMO, but as you said, they control the big screen whenever the TMO is not, which can be pretty influential. Show a few replays, get the crowd fired up, the on-field refs glance at the big...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Nah I don’t mind it - if we want to grow the game, we need to share around the drawcard matches. What better way to get some attention than an Origin-style clash in rugby league’s heartland

    Refereeing decisions

My understanding is the host broadcaster controls the big screen feeds, so have full control over what is or isn't shown. I believe this is even when the TMO is looking at something, and is who the TMO is often talking / giving directions to and the reason there's often delays on requests.

Wallabies v France, Paris, Sun 6th Nov 7am AEDT

I do wonder if this has been at the directive of Rennie et al. in an attempt to fill a Kerevi sized hole He had a grubber or two last week, so hopefully he hasn’t lost that side of his game completely and can bring it back

Think it's been mentioned in this week's match thread, but Rennie said AAA should be good to go

    Refereeing decisions

The ability to share and receive the (often similar) opinions of thousands of others' on platforms like here and social media doesn't particularly help

    Refereeing decisions

The bunker model has shown on numerous occasions that one person making the decision is not the answer. It needs to be a collaborative decision-making process. To err is human, which is why we need failsafes. I get the feeling that sometimes the assistant refs (incl. TMO) may not feel like they...
