2012 Rugby Championship Game 1 Australia vs New Zealand - 18 August

Do you have a specific game you could draw my attention to? I don't recall seeing that last year at all (I confess to not watching every tahs game last year though).

2012 Rugby Championship Game 1 Australia vs New Zealand - 18 August

The difference between the two is that Simmons has actually shown he is capable of playing well and being involved. repeatedly. (He has also shown that he can go missing). Timani has only ever shown that he is missing in action. I agree on both counts. There are issues in this area, but...

2012 Rugby Championship Game 1 Australia vs New Zealand - 18 August

I respectfully disagree. I have not watched every tahs match this season, but after being roundly shut down by barbarian (after I dared to criticize Timani's presence in the last June test) I have watched every game where Timani has played. He does not do any of this. Ever. He would be close to...

2012 Rugby Championship Game 1 Australia vs New Zealand - 18 August

I didn't think the wallabies line up prior to the welsh series would win, but they did. Perhaps it was because the welsh were underdone (they seemed to be), or that they don't travel to the southern hemisphere well (they don't), or that there is an ever widening gulf between the northern and...

I think ATH was making the same point as you in response to me being pessimistic actually.

New Zealand to go in dry. All Blacks by 25+ (Happy to be proven wrong, of course). I don't subscribe to the theory that good players are being left out as such - some are maybe a bit contentious, however that will always be the case. Wholesale changes to the team that beat Wales is pretty...

Ted think losses are Match Fixing

What would be the reason for the match fixing to take place though?

    Reds 2013

Some off field observations: 1. Fine to have the shouting man before the game and during half time to build up the crowd - but stop him from shouting "We are Reds" during the match - the crowd will pick it up when and if it is required. A couple of times it has started by itself - he has...

Analysis of Strength of Conference Tables.

PB, mind telling me how you would have done things if NZ teams shared their wins evenly due to being in a strong conference and ended up lower down on the ladder than the teams from SA and OZ?

Last nights result obviously says that new Zealand are the current title holders of the mythical muttonbird cup, which is awarded to the strongest conference every year. Sheesh... Everyone knows they are, no one disagrees. Move on.

    QF1 2012 - Reds vs Sharks

Interesting perspective. I thought he was one of the few reds who played large. Hard straight running and solid positional play... Just about seemed to be in the thick of everything. Also smart in not offloading when he made breaks given mostly he was somewhat isolated after his runs (reds...

    QF1 2012 - Reds vs Sharks

A well deserved win by the sharks. Reds should have converted their mountain of possession in the second half into points and couldn't. The reds just didn't appear to have zip to do so. I'm a bit gutted at the moment, but realize the reds did well in the back half of the season. We really...

Analysis of Strength of Conference Tables.

Agreed. In one year. I bet you would feel more aggrieved if the results panned out that way though. *edit* I said probability for a reason.

Analysis of Strength of Conference Tables.

What is a suprise is that you are happy to have a team come sixth when the two teams above them have less wins... You are happy to have that situation (because those are the rules), but you are not happy that the reds host a final (because those are the rules).

Analysis of Strength of Conference Tables.

But the other conferences have all the easy games - and so will have much higher win loss overall - in other words the strong conference has a higher probability of lower ladder position - thus why the home game is awarded to the conference leader.

Analysis of Strength of Conference Tables.

Do you disagree with this statement: If a conference is very difficult, then it would be expected that the results WITHIN that conference would have a lower win loss ratio and therefore (generally speaking) the teams in that conference would sit lower on the overall ladder at the end of the...

    QF1 2012 - Reds vs Sharks

I fear the reds may have already played their final last week - pretty difficult to be revved up like they were two weeks in a row. Still, really looking forward to it and hope for a reds win (obviously).
