    2011 Spring Tour

Didn't see it posted anywhere in the thread, so apologies if I missed it. JOC (James O'Connor) likely to start at 10 on this tour according to the following article. I think JOC (James O'Connor) is a fantastic tallent. I just hope he and Australia find his best position soon. James Hook is a good example of a multi-tallented...

Super Rugby preseason games in Asia

I'm sure the pre-season games are just to test the waters. Then if they work out it wont be long before some super rugby games are played in asia too. Already seeing this more and more with the English clubs. Wasps played Quins in Abu Dhabi, Saracens will play one of the HEC games in Cape Town...

    New name for Tri-Nations competition

Can't believe people got paid for coming up with that name. Good to see their 1st worry was that it fit with what sponsors wanted rather than something to inspire the fans. Don't see how the name "The <insert sponsors name> Four Nations" would have been that bad. I suppose it's to make sure that...

    Heineken European Cup 2012

Looking forward to the 1st round of games starting this Friday. Will be cheering for all the Irish provices. Very interested to see how my team, Leinster, go expecially with BoD now out for about 6 months. Also wondering if the Welsh players can carry their WC form into this and make a real...

Hackers hit second division French rugby side

Fans should turn up to their next home game wearing the guy fawkes masks you see anonymous wearing when they do public protests.

    New Zealand Super Squads

I think due to the fact the Haskell has been moved around the BR during his career will mean he's coming off the bench a lot. Not sure how 1 season is going to benfit him that much but he did say he was going there to become a better player for England. Normally it takes a player a season to...

Russia to Bid for 2023 World Cup

Growing the game is a great thing to strive for and I would like to see some of the countries mentioned getting RWC over the next 20 years or so. But the IRB needs to also look after the traditional rugby nations and a 1 for development the none for tradition rotation could work nicely. If the...

    New Zealand Super Squads

It got some press up here in the NH at least. It will just be for the season as he's contracted to return to Wasps for their 2012-13 season.

    Graham Henry steps down

Here's a bit more on Henry's future from the man himself:

    Graham Henry steps down

Cardiff Blues have denied that Henry would be offered their head coach role. While Henry himself has expressed his interest in a role with the RFU. Looks like he knows what he wants to do so the ball is in the RFUs court to offer him the job. But they probably wont do anything until after...

    Shane Williams

Williams was great to watch as a winger in attack. Yes defence counts but you can't deny his attacking threat. Scored some wonderful tries in his career and had excellent footwork.

Interesting insight into just what was happening in the French camp duing the world cup from Imanol Harinordoquy.

    2011 Spring Tour

Dai, I think that's where Argentina, France, NZ & England have an advantage. It's not that their 1st choice front row are better scrummagers, though in some cases they are, it's the depth they have that allows them to more easily cope with injuries.

    2011 Spring Tour

Anyone who was surprised at how well the French scrum went needs to watch some HEC games and they'd quickly realise that in the south of France scrumaging is like a religion. Size plays a part in the scrum but only to the extent that it can tip the scale when technique is evenly balanced...

    2011 Spring Tour

Should be a good game looking at the player scheduled to play. Also I'm sure the Aus team will be up for it even more now Henry is going to coach the Babas.

Ricky Flutey comes to mind but that's exceptional circumstances.

Players that punch above their weight.

Read about the BoD v Healy boxing from a few players on that tour but it so much better to hear someone talk about it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_union/irish/8563493.stm

2011 IRB Player of the Year

I voted for him in the poll simply because the poll says "Player of the Year 2011 will be" rather than should be. I felt the panel would give it to Dusautoir as a consolation to France for their performance in the final. Especially since neither Kaino nor Nonu had stand out performances in the...
