    RWC - Wallabies v Ireland - 17th September 2011

I was very impressed by the fast offloads and direction changes. And the speed and impact of the support players, superb. I am going to be showing that to my boys come pre season training. Pocock would have done sweet FA out there tonight. he would have been by himself and isolated. To a...

    RWC - Wallabies v Ireland - 17th September 2011

Well, as a "neutral" I would have to say it was simply a reverse of what you guys did to the AB's in the trinations. Tonight Ireland wanted it more. It didn't help that: 1. Your scrum was a shocker. 2. There is no excuse for throwing so many not straight lineouts. Jesus, my U15s would be...

Graph of player numbers in each RWC nation

And you also have to play to the strengths of the boys in front of you. For all I know they had lost 4 enormous forwards due to injury and had adapted their game plan. I was just lucky with the boys that I coached. We had a couple of huge props, a forward pack that loved the tight stuff, with a...

Great games. They got smashed by our firsts and but just squeaked past our seconds. Very savvy as far as short lineouts and fake jumpers, but did not like a tight game, with runners hitting it up or rolling mauls. They loved to run it in the backs. Our 2nds tried to spin the ball all day and...

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

My wife said they might just be spooning. My son says the sneaky Kiwi has kicked the Joey out of the pouch and is getting a free ride. Ahh the innocence of youth. But regarding Dan Carter. I suspect they will not be taking any chances with injuries to top players. I have heard that some of...

There is an ever increasing number of american colleges offering rugby scholarships. Imagine if they tapped into their massive Samoan population base. From what I understand, in the past the American RFU have targeted College age players who have not made the cut at that level, offering them...

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

What I think a lot of people forget is that with Colin Slade being carter's understudy for so long, and having to fill multiple spots in Canterbury's backline, is that he quite a handy player. Jamie Joseph snaffled him up for the highlanders, and I think he would have showed his true class if he...

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

Yep. Team management are being conservative and resting him. Weepu is 1st V back up and Cowan is coming onto the bench. They did say that he will be playing against the french next week.

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

I still rate Cowan when it comes to a tight game. He is happy to hit it up and can hit gaps pretty quickly. I think this is just giving Ellis a little run. Ellis will be suited to a high speed game against the Brave Blossoms.

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

Terribly sorry jollyswagman, I didn't realise what sensitive souls some of you are. I take it you are going to have a word with some of your compatriots about their Avatars too. The "Kiwis- Australia's Mexicans" was my inspiration, I find it witty but fail to see the rugby relevance you require...

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

Slade is a capable back up and he doesn't have the defensive frailities of Cooper. Tonga are big boys and hit hard. I don't blame the AB's for backing off a little after putting the game in the bag.

Snowing down south today. Lucky our brand new stadium is covered. Beats freezing on the terraces at Carisbrook.

The Kiwis are rigging the World Cup so they can win.

Just listening to the radio on the way to work this morning, a representative from Gilbert was defending their ball. Apparently it is the same one that was used for the Autumn northern hemisphere tours, the 6 nations and the tri nations. So kickers have had a year to get used to it. Don't think...

    The definitive Rugby Pub Guide

Don't worry about looking for sports bars in NZ. Pretty much every bar worth its salt will play major sporting events. They won't be hard to find. A good suburban working mans pub will have a big screen and probably a TAB as well.
