    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

I say as a passionate Reds fan: with this (justifiably) small number of Reds players selected, the dynasty-forming claims and 2012 chest-thumping hubris of the QRU lie in tatters, little but burning wrecks. Tahs and Brums are rightly being rewarded for the excellence of their coaching and...

    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

That's precisely what excellent S15 coaching and equally excellent player development (latter often derived from the former) does for national selection that merits little argument.

    Wallaby Watch 2014

Hope so. Based upon 2014 form, I'd much prefer Horne to Cummins. Why? This year on the wing Horne has shown v Cummins: - faster acceleration over the winger's first crucial 20ms or so - greater agility (and, I suspect, raw strength) through/around the tackle - much greater vision for gaps...

    Waratahs 2014

@ Pfitzy....you are the superior replacement of the was-once-here-and-wonderful @ naza in terms of raw rugby passion of the highest order, but, with suitable tact and mindful of @ cycloptah's ever-watchful moderation, I must politely ask: When were you last in Brisbane to have garnered all...

    Waratahs 2014

OC, that's a really good point. If the ARU worked with the QRU and ACTRU et al to get the right, well-priced packages of hotels, tickets, transport etc going that could add meaningful '000s to the crowd. A lot of solid non-NSW rugby fans will know that a Tahs S15 win would be truly a great thing...

    Waratahs 2014

Gee, the newly saddened fatalism of the NSW rugby tragic, the last years of Tah despondency and weak crowds have surely taken their toll! FFS guys, if we in Brisbane, less than half the size of Sydney, can get 52,113 for the 2011 S15 Final, with the type of imaginative and suitably intense...

White's got the sour grapes mouthwash big time, now largely blaming the Boks recent camp for the Sharks loss v Stormers. He must be feeling the pressure now, or that of a somewhat over-inflated ego: http://www.superxv.com/42735/1/white-bok-camp-behind-sharks-loss-to-stormers#.U4wyQBYoDuc

FFS! Read the post you first responded to! I was providing a financial/code viability rationale re why we all should not only enjoy the current Tahs status but equally get behind them 100% to win the S15 comp! That they have a real chance of doing this was the whole point. But the key...

    Waratahs 2014

Study carefully the NSW RU's and the ARU's Annual Reports, even BP's open declarations re the very poor financial state the code's in, the hard facts are what's depressing, they should never have become so. If the Tahs' crowds stayed where they were in 2012-13, ditto those in other States bar...

    Waratahs 2014

Well IMO if the crucial outcome is a Tahs S15 win then charging more per seat and packing out the SFS with a passionate, bursting-out crowd is way better than the same sort of $ income with a half-full ANZ echoing crowd enthusiasm more to the cold night sky than to the players.

    Waratahs 2014

Well, like you, I want the Tahs to win the whole shebang so I'd prefer the Sharks at SFS than Cru on August 2. Hopefully Jakeball will have played itself into an hysterical frenzy of unrelieved monotony and repetitiveness by then with all vestiges of clever attacking play gone.

Chiefs vs Waratahs - Super Rugby Round 16 2014

Other than w-l over time, the next best mark of a really well-coached team is (a) the number of players notably improving times (b) their relative rate of sustained core skills improvement within a season. If (a) X (b) yields a big number that team is on a strongly upward path. The opposite...

The road home - Super rugby 2014

Brumbies, like Sharks at Newlands, will be desperate but far more cracks and fissures appearing in their late season game than is the case for the Tahs whose game is now markedly strengthening. And note: Lilo's kicking in disarray, White's better but not entirely consistent, Mogg's kicking (or...

Chiefs vs Waratahs - Super Rugby Round 16 2014

So amusing/ironic that Gibson (+ Cheik of course) as an ex-Crusaders coach is achieving more in a far shorter time with the Tahs' attack than Deans on $1m+ a year ever achieved in 6 years with the Wallabies. In the 2008-13 period the attributes you describe above were at best rare glimpses soon...

    Waratahs 2014

....and btw let's keep preying that The Rugby Gods keep opining in their brilliance that Jakeball should never, when it counts, be awarded anything better than second place.

    Waratahs 2014

If anyone doesn't get how important a Tahs win of the S15 is to the SURVIVAL of Aus rugby, let alone the prospering of it, they need their fucking heads read. Everything possible that can be done to secure that outcome, must be done. The truly scary concern is that even a Tahs S15 Title may be...

    Waratahs 2014

The Reds in 2011 proved that multiple injuries late in the season can be coped with if the coaching and team fundamentals are already proven and sound - do you recall that things had gotten so bad in our backs resources (through injury) we had Caleb Ralph playing away in NZ for us, but we still...

    Waratahs 2014

Unless the core Tahs squad is hit by horrendous injuries v France, the chances of the Reds beating you in July are about 1 in 100. The Chiefs win confirmed it: the Tahs are superbly coached, not only by an excellent HC in Cheika, but just as much by a wisely chosen team of specialist coaches...

    Wallaby Watch 2014

I absolutely hope so, and get your argument. But I worry that a vital piece is missing: Link has not upgraded his Wallaby Assistants. The only one of which is any way seriously proven is McKay, and he not really over a full Test season. Blades and Scrivener are totally unproven and their...

Sure makes the return bout at Newlands an intriguing match to come. Stormers win again, Jakeball could be in real trouble this year.
