Finally A. Finger pinged for being off his feet

Brumbies vs Waratahs Super Rugby Rd11 2012

Very unfortunate for CL. I really like how he's stepped up this year. It's a good model IMO that here was a young guy touted highly as a junior, was fast tracked to play 10, didn't really measure up (and fair enough not many do), so found his feet in less "pressure" positions ie 12 and stints at...

    Sonny Bill

Yes Bunce played centre for the ABs but his first test was at 12 for the ABs. And IMO he probably wouldve stayed there but we lacked depth at 13. Interestingly you will recall that the likes of Eroni Clarke and Iremia also played 12 a bit. My point is that you said that NZ was "shifting...

    Sonny Bill

How "recent" or far back are we talking? Because if you look at the past 15 years we have had the likes of Bunce, Alatini, Umaga, Nonu and SBW play 2nd 5. Then players like Little, Mauger, McAllister are of a different ilk.

Reds vs Crusaders Super Rugby Rd11 2012

What was very effective for the Reds last year was the ability of Horwill and Samo to slow down opposition ball by falling on the wrong side. Then in attack they were very adept at it also which secured quick ball. Not so this season.

    SuperRugby Waratahs V Crusaders, Rd 10 2012

How long ago was that BJ? Watched Pukunui the other night running around for Stade. What gets me is that he has only just turned 30. For all his deficiencies IMo he is the sort of player that a couple of the OZ teams could really do with as part of the squad.

Looks in to me. Certainly can see a blade or two between white line and [illuminated] white boot

Haha McCaw's first tackle and those immortal words from Kaplan, "rollaway 7". He's wearing 19...

Very good interchanges between Fruean, Dagg, Guildford. Some matador defence by Carter on Fruean.

Just confirmed by the Fox Sports crew.

Starting a new rugby club an insane idea? Gippsland, Vic.

Haha. Nice one ellabroz, half a blink and you'd miss Trafalgar. I'd echo the go to Endeavour Hills call. Its a hike but they are a good organized club. Have a number of friends that have or are playing there. It might be worth going there for a season or so, learn the ways of the VRU and then...

    FORCE INJURY CRISIS

The NZ franchises have Wider Training Groups (WTG) of I think 8 or so players that come in only when injury. However each of the NZ franchises have B teams that play each other. Otherwise those players play club rugby

That would be Warragul and Traralgon MR :) I think there may have been attempts many moons ago to try and get a team in Moe. But I know that is Aussie rules heartland. Had a few mates from High School that moved all the way out to Moe just to play VFL.

The unfairness of the conference system illustrated right here...

I get where you're coming from, but I don't wish for that. The season is already long enough in my view and with the extended week of finals, it's funny but by that time of the year I'm just waiting for the internationals to start.

    Rugby TV Shows

You need to watch some NBA when the likes of Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Magic J mix "expert" comments with some Eddie Murphy level comedy. Also listen to some of the radio commentary for some MLB and its quite hilarious. I admit it has to be given they sit around for hours...

The unfairness of the conference system illustrated right here...

Theres a dual incentive. It was to create "local" interest and bragging rights to finish above your compatriot opponents (and all that) plus to do their best to try and get the best chance to go deepest in the playoffs

    2012 S15 NZ Conference

Don't know Riptide. Wayne Smith's influence is fairly evident IMO. They are more disciplined and play with a bit more headiness. Cruden is a big factor as is the play of Messam and Latimer. Not to mention a matured SBW, teamed up with an inform Kahui. They're not perfect but I think with an...

The unfairness of the conference system illustrated right here...

I'm not complaining and guess what I'm a kiwi... As others say it makes perfect sense in a conference system. And it is a genuine conference system where you play H&A to the other teams in the conference so there is a point of difference. You have to reward conference leaders or why have the...

Bulls vs Brumbies Rnd 9 Super Rugby 2012

Agree Blue. Have exceeded my expectations of where I thought they would be this far in. That back 3 looks promising and the loosies are abrasive.

Crusaders V Canes Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

Read put in a MOTM performance. Vito was easily the Canes best also. Carter warming up in terms of returning to form.
