Wow - so GPSRow are you saying that only two from the current Newington First XV are not on bursaries/scholarships?? .

    Ma'a Nonu

He needs to play for a team that wears a black jersey. Maybe the Sharks have room for him. .

Thanks - I wondered why he wasn't being mentioned.

Yeah Gunn played for Oz Schools in 2012 - he turned 18 in June 2013. Placid on the Reds radar??? You think??? Just kidding. He is a brilliant Billy Slater type of fullback at the minute and has to improve in other areas such as defusing bombs, kicking long and being a good custodian. Jake...

    Rebels 2014

He is a French citizen now and could be the Mayor of Clermont if he wanted to be. Their only two activities in the joint are making tyres and playing rugby and Brock is a local hero. CA will be sending him out to play in a wheelchair one day. .

    Waratahs 2014

Yeah, that was Tom - a very good hooker and kicker with a high work rate. Some short guys like Tom don't put a lot of weight on after school but if he can, he has all the attributes to be a pro player - but that would be a bit more down the track. If folks are looking at a young hooker for the...

Thank you Rugby Ref for that quality post which explained things from a referee's perspective. More please. .

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2013

Yes, but more so if they play in the GPS associations of NSW and Qld. Selector Tim Rapp of Newington gets a good look at all the GPS players in Sydney and so do Stephen Phillpotts of BBC and Glen Cronan of Ippies, up north. The legendary Pat Langtry knows the Marist and Eddies boys in the...

Buster Not answering your question directly but talking about injury situations: until they start their training sessions together the guys from the Oz A team will move into the main team if there is an injury to a player in the main team. This supposes that there is no reason to consider...

I am not amazed by this: it happens all the time. Yeah - there are always selection issues and always will be but there are other reasons why "top players" in schools rugby "disappear" and why they were picked for rep footie in the first place. Some players get to go to big private...

FlashFlanker - I have given you the benefit of the doubt because I was a flanker myself and had trouble with rules. I moderated your post, but no more playing the man, thank you. .

Vegas Unfortunately I didn't copy and paste your posts somewhere - perhaps one of the G & G computer gurus who read this can retrieve an archived earlier version of the thread. If commentary has the potential to be generated in more volume Queenslanders will use the scholarship thread more...

And Joeys beat them by 58 points the week before. But New fans should not despair: no doubt they will have a fine First XV in two years' time. .

I have deleted quite a few threads that mention scholarships, imports or the like - or quoted such. I started editing them but it took up too much time. The reasons for it are in post #8 in the Rules of the Schoolboy forum, here...

Agree, but the only thing we can be certain of is that the NSW selectors preferred Kellaway at fullback. Probably the Oz selectors will also. One of the joys of watching schoolboy rugby is to consider which of the boys will progress in the sport when they leave school. It's hard to assess lads...

I'd warrant that a few club and Super Rugby scouts have noticed that also about Jones.

    CAS Rugby 2013

I have taken some extracts from this thread and compiled them to have a "compilation report" on the Waverley v Barker game last Saturday. The page on the blog is here: http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/cas-round-8-match-reports/3/ It was the only way I could get some kind of report for this...

It's a rare skill, isn't it, even for a professional player. I'll tell you another bloke who can hoof the ball a long way with the wrong foot (and doesn't seem to bother to move his body around so he can kick with the right one) and that's Harry Jones of Barker, who is in the Oz Schools Ones. .
