2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

I was talking more about Australian and NZ players in Europe or Japan.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Would be a reasonable opportunity to add more depth to both of our nations by targeting players in Europe and Japan. Which has always been the goal of GRR.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

The crowds in particular show a general disinterest in Super Rugby even among Rugby fans. Sadly the once great competition has run its course. We need to pivot to something that works more in our interests. With TV negotiations coming up the SA media are already being their cyclical 'should we...

    Fijian Latui v Western Foce - Suva, Fiji - Sat 25 May 2019 - 11:10 AWST

The Force providing much stiffer defence than the Kafiga last week forcing Fiji into pushing things a bit too much. Lots of ball missing the targets today.

    Fijian Latui v Western Foce - Suva, Fiji - Sat 25 May 2019 - 11:10 AWST

Definitely a bigger crowd there this week.

    Rugby 7s general chat

He mentioned that he intends to keep up his speed work alongside his 7s training. Very similar to what Isles does. in fact, parts of his training regime has been incorporated into the wider regime of the USA 7s squad.

    Rugby 7s general chat

Put it this way. It shows that he has an awareness for space and footwork alongside some actual experience playing the game. That can be built upon.

    Proposed Nations Championship

More money is most likely the answer. Most of the NH teams only play 11/12 Tests a season so this wouldn't be all that much of a change up on that.

    Rugby 7s general chat

So that answers whether or not he can play.

    Proposed Nations Championship

No idea but according to the articles the cutting of Fiji and Japan has been rejected. So they should feature.

    Proposed Nations Championship

Happy to see both Fiji and Japan back. In terms of funding I suspect the T1 teams including the latter two will likely take up 50% of the $694m on offer annually. Potentially a little more.

    Proposed Nations Championship

Also, not directly related to WR (World Rugby) but a sign of the increasing PE interest in Rugby. CVC has had some preliminary discussions with Major League Rugby in the States.

    Proposed Nations Championship

I suspect this was the 6N's play all along. Raise the stakes and therefore the cash.

    Proposed Nations Championship

Apparently the offer on the table has gone up to £6.2b ($11.4B) with a guarantee of £377m ($694m) of funding annually.

    Rugby 7s general chat

First year where he's seemed comfortable with the general play. Baker actually had been playing for a couple of seasons before making the 7s squad. So, hopefully Williams is more Baker than Isles from the get go as Baker is more complete to the point where he was players of the series last year.

    Rugby 7s general chat

True. But both Isles and Baker beat players for fun on the circuit and now we could have someone who can do similar. That's what really counts.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Yeah, I find it odd as well. Especially the kicking thing. There's actually more in game kicking in League than Rugby.

    Global Rapid Rugby

I'd say it's highly unlikely we'll be seeing any of the Top League teams coming on board. Though I think it could offer an interesting opportunity in the future. I'd really like to see a Sydney team enter. Be it called WS or otherwise. Would really like a team to support in the competition based...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I certainly agree in regards to the casual sports fans perspective on the game. Which is something that annoys me as I think when the ball is in play Rugby is the superior game to the likes of League, Soccer and AFL. The issue is we're competing against games that have vastly more ball in play...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There's no reason something like those measures couldn't be introduced between seasons as they wouldn't actually alter the structure of the game.
