You make a good point, maybe losing players like Douglas, Longbottom, Kimlin etc is unavoidable and the current system is working as good as can be expected. It's easy to lose a player you think is important and feel the system isnt working, but it's never going to be perfect.

I havent seen alot of Drew Mitchell lately, but what i have seen tells me he would walk back into the Wallaby 15 as it currently stands. We are missing one bona fide winger in good form until Speight becomes eligible.

Unfortunately they appear to have completely given up on analysis and decided to be a cheerleading squad instead. Not even an attempt to map out the possible scenarios for each of the Australian teams in contention for the finals dependent on which way the remaining games go.

The system clearly isn't working. The reason to not pick overseas based players was to keep them in Aus rugby with the lure of a Wallabies cap. The concerning ones lost to me are Pyle, Longbottom, Kimlin. Guys who never played for the Wallabies. Forget Douglas, Mowen, Timani, etc. Those guys...

Concerning to hear that Ben Alexander has a neck injury that is going to have to be managed. Who would have guessed two years ago Ben's inclusion in the Wallabies would be close to a dead cert and most people would be happy with that. He has matured brilliantly. Well done that man.

Not at all. I suspect the Force don't have any players receiving a Wallaby top up. He would have no say at the Force and maybe only Higgers at the Rebels.

Really sad to lose Longbottom. But he realistically only has a handful more years to set himself up financially. The negotiations probably started when he didn't think he was a chance at a Wallaby jersey and when silly money fell on the table he had to make the smart decision for his future.

I can kind of see where you are coming from @Hawko , but you are also failing to credit the Force for their game plan which is a bit of an equaliser. They have beaten the Chiefs and Tahs with that same game plan. It's a game plan that isn't going to give you run away wins against lesser teams...

The fact that Hodgson lead the comp in tackles, pilfers and try's (by a forward) surely shows it is anything but case closed. I accept that Hooper will likely be chosen as starting 7, but he is in the form of his life and to discount him is to ignore form. He is currently the form 7 in Super Rugby.

We had 16K to the Bulls game. But about 4-5K of those would have been Bulls supporters. I've never met anyone who told me they were a lions supporter.

That's why I didn't dismiss it off hand. It's not totally implausible. But considering when he is in form he is the best 7 in the world it's surely a pisstake.
