    Rugby World Cup 2023

I believe it's about winning the tackle and earning post contact metres - a stat he regularly does very well in in super rugby. But given it's a percentage it'll be the percentage of carries he was dominant in, so a half break a game isn't going to get him to half of all his carries being dominant.

I think part of the Reds coming around (and potentially the Force) is that they don't have to hand over their commercial operations, likely due to the relative strength/stability of them. It seems as though the Brumbies will still need to, at least to get the requisite financial support they're...

There is talk that there's some interest from the ACT government around financial assistance for the Brumbies. What that looks like and whether it's enough to make a difference remains to be seen.

    Wallabies 2024

This is the reason I hate a poorly performing tier one side being described as tier 2 or vice versa - it implies that all a tier 2 side has to do to get a seat at the big table is perform (even with the deck stacked against them) when in reality it is a structural divide and it generally...

    Queensland Reds 2024

I don't disagree that Lynagh was played too early (or at least too much too early), but the solution to that is hardly to do it to McLaughlin-Phillips too. Lynagh's kicking game and control is a significant advantage there too - it's developed well beyond most tens his age and something that is...

    Wallabies 2024

I was speaking more about his ability to stay fit and string games together there but I'm not sure that performance against Wales gives him much to hang his hat on. Given the way we played our best forward after Bell in that Wales game doesn't mean much in terms of performance and that botched...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2024

Wasn't he properly ill in the lead up to the game, like potentially unable to be there level of illness? I thought they mentioned something about that on the broadcast.

    Wallabies 2024

I was specifically speaking about it being possible Salakaia-Loto overtakes Leota there. I understand he's been out most of the year and that was part of my point - he has potential but hasn't really shown much of it over the past year or more. If he does pick up another injury (which he has a...

    Wallabies 2024

He's pretty much a straight sub in for Phillip at this stage, replacing him at both the Rebels and if he does well the Wallabies. I could still see him push Leota out in the backrow for a time if they go down that path though, Rob has really struggled to impose himself coming back from injury...

    Wallabies 2024

I was talking about Koroibete there, not Kerevi, but either way I don't see that working. Radike was predominantly a lock/back row who had played a bit of wing when he was younger and filled in at wing for a world cup game against Russia. Marike doesn't have the frame to really make sense...

He is at that age where outside backs tend to drop off, it wouldn't be a huge shock. If Sua'ali'i does end up arriving a year earlier that could force Marika out.

    Wallabies 2024

I think the Lions tour will keep a few going and in the frame, but that list looks mostly right, though Kemeny is still quite young (24) so even if he doesn't play for the wallabies next year I wouldn't write him off. I feel like Slipper should be given a sabbatical for next season if we want...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

From a kayo perspective not so much, but from a broader media groups perspective they still need as full a sport offering as possible to draw subscribers in. Warner Bros have announced they're going to be launching a streaming platform in Australia in 2024, this will Binge (and maybe foxtel)...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I'd much prefer we stay with Stan, their output and engagement with the game has been light years ahead of what fox was offering at the end of their time. That said, fox bidding (along with Amazon and others) can only be a good thing, without actual competition for the broadcast rights we have...

They trialed Captain's challenge in Super Rugby Aotearoa and it was a shit show. Bringing it back and then removing the TMO for all other calls would be even worse.

Wallabies v Portugal, RWC Pool C, Mon 2 Oct 2.45AM

Yeah, I think so. Portugal came to play and start the game fast, Wallabies lift the pace from there. A few stoppages slow things down but most of the rugby is lively and played to win (rather than not lose).
