    S15: Australia dont have depth

That's true but give the Rebels a few more years to catch up with the Force ;) The thing with the Lions and Cheetahs is that we weren't in a conference style comp so everyone got a chance to put a win on them creating a bit more of a level playing field. I don't honestly think it makes THAT...

    Higgers to the Rebels

The reason the other teams can afford the players they want is because they don't have a number of high calibre of players that demand higher salaries. Who at the Force would be be getting the big bucks? Pocock, Sharpe....anyone else? Probably why they had the $$ to throw at Genia....

    Higgers to the Rebels

No....the NZRFU pays the players from Super Rugby level on I think but they are restricted to how much money is the kitty - just like the ARU. That's why we've lost so many players over the years and why the NZRFU has had to think of new ways to keep players eg. playing sabbaticals. Did any of...

    Higgers to the Rebels

I'm not 100% of all the ins and outs but each province has a salary cap of somewhere around $2million to contract at least 26 players. There are minimum payments a player can expect depending on there experience etc and I think the NZRFU pays a certain amount towards this. The Super Rugby...

    Higgers to the Rebels

Actually....there is a salary cap in NZ......

    Higgers to the Rebels

Errrrr....you must have missed the "of course there are exceptions with teams like the Brumbies".....

    Higgers to the Rebels

Getting good players a pretty good start. That's how you become competitive - with good players. Compare with other teams in the Top 5: Chiefs: SBW, Cruden, Masaga, Kahui, Messam, Leonard, Elliot, Schwalger Bulls: Spies, Chiliboy, Hougaard, Steyn, Basson, Ndungane Stormers: Bekker, J de...

    Higgers to the Rebels

That's the point Inkosi. These people are already rugby followers. I don't know if the Reds success would have pulled a lot of new interest outside of QLD. If the Rebels and Force could be considered as play-off contenders most years with recognisable names taking the field, I think it would...

    Higgers to the Rebels

At the moment, 3 Aussie teams are in the bottom 5 teams. The top team is coming 4th on the ladder in pure point terms (even given they still are behind one game). What's the point of having one team capable of winning the whole thing and 3 or fours other that are pretty shit?! I think it's...

    Rugby - not set pieces

Falling on the wrong side isn't always a matter of choice - especially when you monster someone. It's then the defensive team who is actually going forward and should have the advantage. You sometimes see the ball-carrier get caught by 2 or 3 defenders who drive him backwards and then fall over...

    Rugby - not set pieces

Again, if the rules start penalising players for being too dominant then I think that would be a shame.

    Rugby - not set pieces

He should have to release the ball because he just got dominated. The game is, at it's basic core, all about physical dominance. If you just got physically bested then you should probably lose possession....

    Rugby - not set pieces

I don't like it because I love watching dominant tackles. You're almost penalising a player for making too dominant a tackle.

John I Dent Cup and ACT competition - 2012

Front row depth seems to be an issue in a few clubs. They tried to get me to play prop when we first started and I had to keep explaining that I had no clue what the hell I was doing in the scrums.....apart from getting absolutley smashed...LOL. That's only the 2nd game I've played with the...

What is wrong with the Tahs

I think some of tne Tah players are over-rated and so when they're playing, they're considered to be out of form when they are actually about as good as they usually are, and whe they are injured, it's deemed that an important cog in the machine is missing eg. Barnes, Lachie Tarner, Elsom...

    Rugby - not set pieces

^^How often is this gonna get posted?? I deleted it Bullrush - but this is probably the place to post such trivia and such - rather than starting a brand new thread. It's one of the purposes it was started. LG

Rebels vs Crusaders Rnd 12 Super Rugby 2012

You're welcome :) I must say however, that since moving to Aussie, I've become a lot more patriotic.....I still can't bring myself to like Canterbury but I'll support them against most other teams now.....except the NZ teams, and probably the Brumbies, Cheetahs, Force, Rebels, Lions...

Rebels vs Crusaders Rnd 12 Super Rugby 2012

Ahhhhhh.....some of us hate the Crusaders. Do you know how un-kiwi I was deemed to be as the only guy standing in my local, cheering for Phil Waugh and the Waratahs in 2008 (was it 2008?).......ABC my friend, ABC....anyone but Canterbury!!

    Stephen Larkham - Brumbies saviour

Tony Brown made a pretty good fist of it last year for the Highlanders. I don't know how old he is (he looks about 44...lol) but he'd be a similar age to Larkham surely? Has Larkham been playing any kind of rugby at all recently??
