    Australia's Unique Player Contracting System

That's what happened to Aironi, the Italian Federation revoked their license over financial issues so they wont have regional status and wont compete in the Pro12 or HEC anymore. Italians are yet to announce who will take their spot. But I'd be pretty pissed if I was a fan of Aironi, it's hard...

    IRB Sevens 2012

I always thought Fox's set up was similar to Sky sports in the UK and Ireland since they are sister companies but I guess I was wrong. Sky Sports showed all of the 7s but you would have to be looking out for it to see it all. Sky have 5 Sports channels and then Sky sports Xtra on their...

    Waratahs 2012

From Planet Rugby No mention of where he's been playing though so might be just training with the squad for the last few weeks with no game time.

    Aus conference finals run

The more I look at the run ins the more likely it seems to me that an Aus team will have to win the conference to make the play offs. This makes the games between the top 3 Aus teams possible deciders. The only sccenario I can see with 2 Aus teams making it is for the Brumbies and 1 of the...

    Waratahs 2012

The injuries to first choice backs definitely has an impact but that's because those backs are more likely to make individual breaks that may lead to points on the board. But it doesn't address the fundamental problem of the overall Tahs game plan for attacking through the backs. The moves are...

    Assistant referees

Apologies for trying to bring some levity to the discussion. Sometimes I forget humour doesn't always come across properly on the internet. I know that Refs and ARs do a very difficult job and I'm glad I'm not the one who has to figure out exactly where the ball crossed the line along with all...

    IRB Sevens 2012

Surprised Fox didn't show it live as their UK sister channel Sky Sports covered most of it live. Didn't see much of it myself as there was so much rugby on this weekend what with S15, Pro12 and the Premiership.

Does anyone else fear for TPN's Brain?

You only have to look at bloodgate to see how much pressure some clubs put on doctors and medics to do and say what is in the interests of the club. Player welfare should be top priority and in cases of concussion, at the highest levels of the game, the call should be made by an independent...

Leicester Tigers tackle injuries using IBM analytics

Thought this article was an interesting read. Obviously there are limitations to the application but if in the future a similar approach can keep the best players injury free for longer then it's a benefit to the whole game. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17867961

    Assistant referees

Most Assistant Refs have an unerring ability to predict where the ball will go out even before it has been kicked. Either that or some of them are lazy and don't want to walk too far from where they were standing.

S15R10 Cheetahs vs Force @ Osfontein

Yes the Force could have easily won that one. Aus teams have been making a habit of losing tight games lately. Pocock either needs to learn from his decision making mistakes today or give the responsibility to someone else.

S15R10 Cheetahs vs Force @ Osfontein

I know as a rule Aus fans don't like drop goals but if the Force had kicked that penalty earlier they could have set up for a drop goal to win the game.

S15R10 Cheetahs vs Force @ Osfontein

Why didn't the Force take the points on offer instead of going for the scrum?

S15R10 Cheetahs vs Force @ Osfontein

Big call from the touch judge there saying the arm around the neck affected the scoring of a Force try. Try ruled out and penalty against the force.

Brumbies vs Waratahs Super Rugby Rd11 2012

I'd rather have accurate kickers over guys with a big boot any day. Of course players with both are ideal. But it's better to be able to consistently put the ball far away from the opposition's cover than it is to be able to simply kick the ball far away from yourself.

Brumbies vs Waratahs Super Rugby Rd11 2012

Rocky was really good for us so I'll always have respect for him. But him leaving when he did allowed Sean O'Brien to come through and I've no doubt we got the better of that deal. So while I'll always have a soft spot for Rocky I think I'll stick with O'Brien. With my Tahs fan hat on he needs...

Brumbies vs Waratahs Super Rugby Rd11 2012

I can understand why they would boo him, although personally I wouldn't do it, when they feel used and betrayed. For me Rocky will always be a legend for what he did for us at Leinster, but with us is probably the last time he's performed to such a high standard and on a consistent basis.

Sully do you know if the people from PlayUp will be checking this thread to see people's feedback?

Brumbies vs Waratahs Super Rugby Rd11 2012

With Gaffney as backs coach it would be like rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic which isn't much help even if it's in 3D.
