Welcome to the forums of Green & Gold Rugby.
We have recently made some changes to the amount of discussions boards on the forum.
Over the coming months we will continue to make more changes to make the forum more user friendly for all to use.
Thanks, Admin.
The problem really does come back to their using "We don't give top ups unless you've been a Wallaby for two years" as their defence and then giving it to new Wallabies. It's the difference between 15k a game and 50k a game.
You'd think Hooper would be on a top up too, but he only started out...
I just think stating you have a prerequisite you plainly ignored is stupid. If Mowen was never promised the money by the ARU then I think he's making a storm in a teacup, but given he was in the EOYT runnings last year, part of the 2013 Wallabies from the get go and has played in every 2013...
The reason I didn't want Deans kicked out is I wanted a coach who was there from the end of the last world cup until the end of the next one.
We have Link now and my argument remains the same - don't mess with how the team is being lead. Keep Link until after RWC2015.
Should McKenzie throw caution to the wind on the EOYT and bring in a new team he can call his? Eg.
Sio, Hanson, Ryan, Pyle, Carter, Cottrell, Gill, Schatz, White, To'omua, Crawford, Godwin, Kuridrani, Speight, Foley
I think the mindless kicking was a clear game plan, you saw that the 10 never called for it and the forwards were rarely set for a pick and go. It was like they had heard "Playing for territory wins tests." and went "Right, kick it away every time, got it."
I don't think Big Kev has been great, but he's also our best lock at the moment. Captain can be criticised (see Will Genia v the Boks), but just because they're criticisable doesn't mean they shouldn't be there.
I think there's accountability on both sides, I just question whether or not it's good for the team to keep saying (indirectly) to the players "You aren't good enough." It's the same sort of reasoning for not dropping a player after he plays brilliantly in my point of view.
Is McKenzie really justified in saying things like
"The players aren't smart enough"/"The players aren't good enough"/"The players aren't mature enough"?
Moore is only in the team by virtue of no TPN/Hanson. Hooper is enthusiastic, but ineffective against big packs. Folau does not understand what he is meant to do as an international fullback.
I'd go with
Robinson, Moore, Slipper, Fardy, Horwill, Mowen, Gill, McCalman, White, To'omua, CFS...
